I'm curious to see how other players start their games. Also I used the search bar and the only vaguely related threads that came up were so old that they're no longer relevant due to changes in the game. Here's mine: 2 mex 1 energy Bot factory Use the commander to spam energy while the bots do metal I'm sure there must be a more efficient way of doing things as my economy is constantly in the red at the beginning of the game.
This was already a Tread, please do a search before you post something. (Me: mex, power, mex, mex, bot factory )
I see that you're new to the forums, so welcome! In accordance to the forum rules you should do a topic search before creating a new thread. This has been discussed before bla blup bli blabla...
https://forums.uberent.com/threads/whats-everyones-opening-build-again.54585/ Granted, it's not easy to find.
I'm a fan of something I learned watching BrianPurkiss, mex, power, mex, energy storage, power, mex, mex, bot, air, bot, eeeennnnnerrrgyyyy
There maybe one or two variations but it really doesn't matter, if someone manages to rush you or better you in anyway on this game don't worry because its not that strategic yet.
3 mex 2 power bot factory Com spam power 1st bot helps 2nd and 3Rd do metal 4th does storage usually one sometimes 2 5th does air I need to work on getting more mex as I'm always negative and ai spawns too close to actually expand much (I'm usually sandwiched in between them) Haven't tried against a person yet as I'm still prone to game crashing
There's been several threads on this topic. I go with meta, energy, metal, metal, bot factory (3 bot fabbers, 5 doxes, max bot fabbers). Then with my Commander 6 energy, energy storage, then a bunch of energy. With my first three bot fabbers, I send the first one on metal, second assisting the Commander, and then the third assisting the first. When I get positive energy I pull the second fabber away from the Commander and have it start on an Air factory.
It's kind of personal preference. You should always go for power first or second, unless you need to go for a walk between first and second mex. I aim to be able to build my first factory as soon as I can afford it. (i.e 2 mex, 1 power, 1 factory if I need to walk for 3rd mex.)
3 SCV's, Supply Depot, SCV, Barracks, SCV, Supply Depot, Marine. Just realized. Wrong game. Of course I tease, I've played PA for about 40 minutes. I don't know anything yet. Sorry for the poor comic relief.
yeah it was working out for me at first and now I'm trying some variations. Not going exceptionally so I'll move on to something that will stall my energy less.
I am sticking with this one from now on: Mex, Power, Mex, Mex, Bot fac. Queue: 3 fab, 3 dox, spam fab Comm: 1 mex, 4 Power, E storage, 20ish power. Bots: First and second start expansion, next one starts an air fac, then leaves with the 4th fab to go expand. In 1v1s I will base my next moves on what the other player is doing.
How do you not stall energy by going for that 4th metal before going to energy? I find it very easy to stall out energy when the fabricators start rolling off the factory, even when the comm goes for energy first.
Trick here: I only go for a 4th mex if it is close in. Otherwise it is straight to energy Sometimes (if I pay attention) I will build 2 dox before I start my regular build, which gives the comm time for at least one, maybe two power gens. I usually stall on metal, and I need to get better at expanding ruthlessly.
I think the standard is mex, power, mex, mex, bot factory. After that it gets tricky. I have just copied what gunshin does. And it works like a charm. But I'm kinda reluctant in telling you Just ask Gunshin if you want to know, or visit PA Stats and open up a game of his to view his buildorder. It's actually not that simple, but very efficient.
I used to go metal, energy, metal, metal, metal, factory – but found that the delay in build power cut back on the exponential growth too much. Set me way behind when playing against someone who built 2 metal first. I'd be really curious to see two opponents use these two builds side by side. Based on his PA Stats, he does the same thing I do, except he builds a second metal extractor before the first energy. Builds 3 bot fabbers, then some doxes, then bot fabbers. Not quite sure what order the bot fabbers go do without watching vids of him on PA Matches, but I don't care enough.
The bots actually go on building mexes. The commander builds 5 enery plants after the bot factory, then air factory for a scout, then one energy storage then more energy plants. Sometimes you can even build all three mexes before the first energy plant, it's dependant on how far the metal spots are away from eachother. I think it's the most effective buildorder yet. Btw i build only two fabs, then two doxes for scouting, then set the factory to building fabs infinitely. Gunshin builds 3 fabs first, not two like i do. Don't know what's more efficient.
