Hi, I have been getting PA.exe stop working when I try to launch it, I have tried from Steam as well as downloading the files from the uberent site also.

I have also checked my drivers without any fix, I have tried compatibility mode to windows 7.

I currently have Windows 8.1 with ATI beta drivers.

    My DX file attached.

    any help is much appreciated.

Scotty - First off, I'd say your drivers are a bit old for your ATI card. I'd recommend downloading the drivers from ATI, rather than using the Microsoft WDDM drivers.

Looks like it is failing on a mod. Remove all mods from your game and try again. If it works you can start adding the mods back on until you find the one that is broken. You can then report the bug in the mod forum.

AMD latest stable driver was released on 1/21/2013, I don't think that is his problem, the 4800 series is ancient.

might be worth a try to get the stable driver from them though

Ah, good to know. Didn't realize that was the last update for the unified latest stable for the 4800. I thought their drivers were still more homogeneous than that.

    Hi,

Thanks for the advice and pointing me in a direction, unfortunately I have attempted to update the drivers without any luck and still getting the same issue on launch.

Your problem with game caused by built-in video drivers that distributed together with Windows 8 and 8.1. Currently only known way to fix that problem is this:
    1. Open Device Manager (video how-to)
    2. Find "ATI Radeon HD 4800" in "Display adapters" subsection (check this screenshot)
    3. Uninstall built-in driver.
    4. Now download and install "Latest Beta Driver" from AMD website:
      http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows 8 - 64

After you do that game should work.
