Mostly the game can act very slow and unresponsive at times. When I go to create a Single-Player game it says "Generating planets" but then everything freezes and eventually the game crashes. I've tried updating my drivers but it was all to no avail

Help would be deeply appreciated :)

    Two problems here:
    Code:
     Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)
    Memory: 2048MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 2048MB RAM
First: you have only 2GB memory which minimal requirement for PA is 4GB. I'm personally recommend you upgrade to 8GB RAM.

Second problem is 32-bit OS and it's default 2GB per process memory limit This game have 32-bit support, but it's will be only playable on very small maps. You can apply some workarounds on your system and game executable to allow it use up to ~3GB, but it's will be much better if you upgrade to 64-bit.

So is there no way as of right now that I'd be able to play the game? :/

You computer don't met minimal system requirements. Still if you buy more RAM your hardware should run game just fine. Currently you can try to generate system with one 200-400 meters moon and run 1v1 game on it. Might be it's won't crash with out of memory.
