Hi guys, after a long time watching this game's progress i decided to make myself a gift for Christmas and buy it. I played a game vs AI, i had fun but i didn't follow any particular build, just built stuff to learn how each unit works. Now i'm trying to find as much material as possible to learn this amazing game, but i couldn't find a tutorial that starts from the basics, each one i found required some experience with the game itself . Can some good soul point me to a beginner friendly tutorial and , maybe, some builds to follow ? Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas !
Hello! I'm a beginner too and I'm watching lot of streams and youtube videos. Also, here in the forum, they hinted to see this website pamatches.com ( I can't use link as a new user) It's full of tutorials and explanations about tacticts and game basics.
Several players have made really good ones. The most latest being zaphodx1. His can be found on his YouTube account by the same name. Brian purkiss has really good tutorials too. Those can be found at http://pamatches.com/tutorials/
Doesn't the tutorial linked to on the main page of the game cover the basics? You should definitely check that out too if you haven't already!
That tutorial goes over the basics of how to move and build units and whatnot. It doesn't go over any gameplay strategies. As was mentioned, PA Matches has a growing collection of tutorials.
My situation is laughable. I continue to lose vs AI while keeping the econ ratio 1:1. No matters how fast I start and the starting build list I use; AI, nealy always, overwelm me after 12 minutes. I need to use better keyboard shortcuts!!!
You may consider checking tutorials first. If you can find buttons within ten seconds of looking, you shouldn't be at too big a disadvantage. This game is macro. It doesn't require intensive clicking over the course of two minutes. It instead lets you queue your commanders first five minutes of build list within the first minute, then you are free to forget about him while paying attention to other builders from your first factory. The tutorials would show you, it is encouraged to build as far out as soon as possible, and build few scattered out structures. That is what most players usually don't get at first. Where you spawn, make two power and one metal, then a factory, then send engineers to the most distant metal on your half of the planet and build/fortify it. Then collect the metal inside. If there are lots of empty space, that's how it is supposed to be. The dense cluster of all your structures in one spot is one of the things obsolete by design in pa. This game does have fancy controls, do learn them over time. But strategy and form are usually the fun and meaty part. So yeah. Pamatches.com/tutorials is a site i didn't know existed but now i want to watch those. Maybe the devs should find one unbiased of strategy (turtle or rusher or air or nuke), and link it as THE tutorial on menu page.
Thanks I like how the game is macro based, though a little micro in lot of combat situation is required as much as other RTS. The build order you told me is ok and I'm seeing that I lack at econ management at the beginning cause I want to construct too much power and metal together and I use too much T1 engis around the globe trying to not have idle construction units. I learned a fast and easy 1v1 tactic from your clanmate "Man11th" but now I want to learn to manage more complicated setups. Maybe, before the end of the year, I'll try my firs match against humans
