First time I had time to sit down and play the beta.
Read the instructions about tuning the graphics and went for it.

I got spanked by "Odin AI" on a funky shaped planet...

...and it was an absolute blast!!!

    :)

Thanks for all the hard work dev's -
this will be, while being already - a great game.

Odin better be nerfed in the new patch dammit.

(set AI multiplier to less than 1 for an easier time)

    meh AI is easy lol.

the AI barely expands. you can basically camp in 1 place with a million of defenses and go to sleep XD

Have you played the AI recently? The AI tends to be very busy, very fast. If you're not careful it will fill the strategic view of the with so many blue icons it makes a lava planet look like an ocean planet (If the AI happens to be a blue colour, that is...)

They'll also hit multiple planets if you're not paying attention.

The ai also tends be good at sending continuous streams of units to attack you early on, in my experience anyway.

I find the AI harder to play against than humans if we all have 1:1 economy scales. While humans can only be controlling one place at a time, the AI is everywhere, all the time. And you're constantly getting attacked by streams of units like what sargeantpig said.

The AI is not everywhere at once.. it's just that its APM is in the billions... we fleshbags just need to up our game. :)

The AI doesn't use multiple fabbers on projects which means that it doesn't stand a chance. If you're not outnumbering it in every fight like 3:1 you're doing something horribly wrong. In real terms you outnumber it by more because it builds mobile AA units, which suck.

Uhh. Ok. Go start a game with the AI, rush to orbital and put an advanced radar satellite up and then go to another planet. Watch the AI on the starting planet for a while...

Sorian is still developing the AI. So uh, what you think the AI did and what it does now has much like the rest of the game. Changed, but go find that one out for yourself.

It conqueres eight Pelters, two Holkins and a mass of AA and Towers backed with Radar coverage. Quickly.
