My bro and I have had some epic comp stomp battles in TA against the computer, usually 5 or six of them allied against us. As discussed previously, the goal is to have 40 player games in one system. I was wondering...would it be possible to have say 2 human players allied and have 38 AI players...? Comp stomp allied against computer 2 vs 38 would be like a flea going up against an elephant. Maybe with Sorian's enhanced AI, it might not be even possible to win. It would make for an epic battle though! The reason I ask this is because in TA original, you could only put one ai per player. This was later patched out by the community I believe. Anyway, thoughts...?
Yes, I want to be strung by my toes and repeatedly beaten because I am some sort of crazy person. Wait, what? lol ofc! BRING IT
Well at some point it will make more sense to use fewer "stronger" AIs instead of many weaker ones. Mike
but there is a point when you can't make the AI stronger without cheating, that is, when sorian finally runs out of evil ideas. At which point, increase the number of them
First, you could set the economy of them to a high number, technically giving them infinite metal so they produce units immediately in instant huge neverending mass. Second, you could technically, through a client mod, have a 40 player game, and have all but two of those be AI. As far as I remember. I would go with the first one though. For now. The later one will be more possible without modding later, when they raise the limit to 40.
You also need to consider the possibility of running that number AIs on a server, at some point you might need to use cheating AIs just to make sure the game is actually playable. Based on Sorian's past works you will have lots of control over how the AI cheats exactly as you want it so there isn't any reason to ostracize Cheating AIs just because they cheat in some way. Mike
