The Gunner can fire the mortar launcher out from inside the spawn gates. This allows him remain invincible to everything but other mortar launcher rounds and area of effect damage if close enough. This is an extremely broken "tactic" on Ammo Mule, LaseRazor, and GrenADEIII if I remember correctly because they have spawns leading into the lanes. Interesting thing is you can only shoot out of the maps with the modified spawns with the basements. This means the support can keep a Gap Shot from moving at all effectively making a much better Long Shot turret for 100 gold. He can be stopped from doing this and it causes him to really only be able to do that. So I'm not sure it's really an exploit. The bug seems to be that bullets(Read: Hitscan weapons) damage and go through the tops of turrets. Also I say exploit in the video, but I meant bug. http://www.livestream.com/istreamthings ... m=ui-thumb EDIT 2 Post Release: The Gunner bug still exists. It's only slightly harder to do. Video link here. Once I get around to playing the game again too busy with The Tomb of Horrors. http://www.livestream.com/istreamthings ... m=ui-thumb
I see what you're saying. On ammomule the gunner could (without dying) mortar any bot within from his base to the mid-area on either lane. Hmmm ... Oh, and supports with the kreepblocking, I dunno... hasn't it been that way for a while now? I don't think anyone has ever done it on PC. Anyway, I suppose it is something to fix when everything else is ironed out.
I think the Support thing is not a problem. He is forced to stay close to the GapShot which makes him an easy target and a GapShot can't absorb much damage. Two mortar rounds to the face and the problem is solved. The Gunner thing is worth looking at, although you would seriously gimp yourself as Gunner doing that for more than a minute. You won't die but you won't get a lot of kills and you can't push the enemies base effectively. Those are pretty much the main objectives of a Gunner. If it was one of my teammates doing that I'd ask him to get his sorry butt out there and do something for his team. Good finds though!
His steam name isn't important because it isn't an illegal move at all. It is VERY effective at pushing bot lanes though. I found the gunner thing out earlier today actually.
The gunner exploit can be done on all maps and all doors. And I found another interesting one. If you fire a level 1 mortar in your spawn it does damage to yourself. Doesn't bounce off anything doesn't hit anything just damages yourself. That was me and I was testing whether it was a single map or all maps. Edit: It appears to only work with split mortars upgrade.
Gunner issue is a known issue that's already fixed internally. Next update will have it. Support issue is something we know about as well. If you want to spend the whole game blocking a robot, go right ahead. Turret issue is a known and already fixed for next patch.
The support thing is something that has been known in the 360 community for a while now. I suppose that it could be considered an exploit because the support can use this to block the bot lane and line up multiple gapshots directly behind each other, and it also stops most other bots in the lane allowing the support to build up an enormous bot army to all be released at once. Of course a sniper with explosive rounds can take out the whole shebang in a few seconds so it isn't that big of deal.
Why is this a big deal to you? He wasn't doing anything wrong. You should use any option available in the game to win.
It's not a big deal whatsoever, no reason to act defensive. However, it is a big deal to me for people to encourage exploitation of the game at any time, but especially during the beta phase when we donate our time to improve the game. You are right that the name wasn't important and that it's not illegal in the sense that Ekanaut is going to phone up the local police and have them arrest a player, however, the mindset of actively encouraging abuse of bugs is wrong. Thanks for the update, Ekanaut. You guys are really putting this extra week of beta to good use!
Was support being able to block gapshots fixed with update 6? Last night I was playing support, and I wasn't specifically trying to block anything, but I did notice them walking right through me when I was escorting bots.
