It seams like the game is all about building power generators now. It takes way to much power to build items now. With 3 metal & 5 power generators one factory and one fabricator is too much energy usage.
You're the first person I've seen that says there's too much power in the game. I'd disagree with you on this one. Power generation is good where it is. If the power generation was upped, then it'd be way too easy to have an over powered economy. One of two things would happen. Everyone wouldn't build as many power plants and losing a small number of power plants means your economy is completely screwed and very difficult to recover. Or, everyone would build so many power plants that it takes absolutely no effort at all to achieve a stable economy. Economy management is a very important component of RTS games – almost as important as where to attack and with what. I like it where it is.
I do feel that power requirements are a bit off. This particularly slows down the early game where grabbing 10 metal spots is fairly quick to do but building all the power to keep up with it is a dedicated task all its own. I'm not convinced that I should need 2 generators for every basic fabrication bot, or that they should be so expensive (and therefore time consuming) to build. I believe the main purpose of having energy is as a secondary means of crippling your opponent but mostly it ends up being a race to not cripple yourself because you need endless amounts of the things.
I just had a game where I had 2 factories and 30 power generators and 0 power. Have to devote your entire build power to building power but you can't build power since you don't have power.
Sounds like you have way too many fabbers then. Keep in mind air and sea fabbers use up far more energy per metal than bot/tank ones.
