I don't know about everyone else but I struggle finding one 2>3 hour slot that I can dedicate to planetary annihilation (turtle), probably due to the 10 week old, I would be able to play more often if I knew I could just save it go see to the baby, then resume it another day,

Please could we have this sooner rather than later?

    Cheers
    Ash

Do you have some info to substantiate that claim? The last I heard the save feature was not a huge priority, and with everything uber does, will be ready 'when it's ready'. Please correct me if you know more.

Be mindful to avoid personal attacks in forum posts. Saving would be a neat feature, and is kind of a pivotal feature in games, to the point where it's taken for granted that a well produced game should just have one. But this isn't a finished game yet, the save file is going to be obsolete every 2 weeks or so, I'm sure it's not a feature but the dev team does read these posts and the priority shifts as much according to community requests as it does to the natural process of adding features.

I was quite careful not to personally attack anyone in my post, but I have removed the sentence which you might have thought 'risky'. There is a huge amount of accidental miss-information on the forum and as we saw with the 'big update next week' thread, it can lead to disappointment and disgruntled players.
I was abrupt (although polite) because I am sick of people giving their opinion as fact and intentionally misleading others. We don't need any more miss-information floating around.
Unless Melhem has some source I have not yet seen regarding when the save feature will be implemented, he is talking rubbish and misleading Ash.

Shame no one has made a mod that enables a 'save', even if it is obsolete every new build,

Considering the playable game is completely server-side, and we don't have access to the server component, such a mod is presently impossible. All in due time.

I really don't think this is a priority compared to other features. Please remember Uber needs to get the game made, not making the beta more playable for users!

Technically, saving is already possible. If it wasn't, the whole chrono cam wouldn't work. There are several reasons not to enable it to players yet though. I believe Uber made a post about this once, in some far off thread, but I can't remember where :p

I think this is a case of simple misunderstanding. I suspect what Melhem meant was "yes it should be implemented soon" as in, he would like to see it. Move along people, nothing to see here :p

and yes, a save feature would be nice, but i dont mind a few cut short games if the devs are concentrating on finishing things like new units first :p

Well we don't know. But, we can use the replay system, we can load and save planets, and such...

I would guess that the first step in the right direction though is a "pause" button to pause server simulation. That would be useful now, useful later, and to avoid abuse make it end game if longer than 20 min.

I feel for the op, that is what keeps me down to 1-2 games every few days.

For PA 'saving' isn't separate from replays, the replay is the save file that will eventually allow you to resume the game from any point during the replay. I'm sure it's been very tricky for Uber to work on, Blizzard with it's huge budgets and massive Esports focus only recently in the last3-6 months got something like this out for Starcraft2, so we should just wait patiently.

With all the possible politeness in the world Melhem, it's not my problem if you were offended. I didn't break the forum rules, I didn't attack you and I was even polite (ish) about the whole thing. I simply highlighted the fact that in its current state your post reads like total misinformation. As I said above, there is already too much misinformation floating around the without people thoughtlessly adding to it.

Still, because life is short, I'm sorry if you were offended by my post; it wasn't my intention to offend anyone.

    Down with misinformation!

I hope your feature gets in sooner rather than later Ash :), good luck.

And that's why I said "be mindful" instead of outright scolding you. It wasn't outright inflammatory, but it came across as hostile is all we were saying. Let's just drop it and walk away with the lesson that we should respect other people's requests, use proper grammar so that people don't think you're spreading misinformation, and keep in mind that not everything they're working on is getting talked about, and not everything they're talking about is getting worked on.

Haha, oh no, not an outright scolding! I've not had one of those for many a year ;). If you intend on going around ' outright scolding' everyone who posts something potentially inflammatory or which offends someone else, your going to have your hands full here! The majority are an impassioned bunch, and so many people nowadays are easily hurt when there is no need to be.

While I don't post here that often I will still call people when I see them obviously posting rubbish. If that hurts their feelings, so be it. Definitely feel free to follow my posts though and hand out scoldings whenever I break the dangoofed rules!
