Yup. Btw our team is kinda loose atm, it's just Sexy Bread, Dot, Killz and I atm. We are looking for an Assassin and perhaps for some additional players, Tank/Assault/Support would be nice. Dot runs the server Mickey Cantor's 40oz Arena and we are (mostly) veterans of a TF2 team. No steam group or anything, this is just going to be a real 6-8 player team, and we hope to get straight into whatever leagues MNC can attract. :)

If anyone here has competitive experience in TF2 and is looking for a good time playing MNC competitively, we'd love to have you. We're using a lot of the same lingo and metaphors as TF2 comp players would use, so be warned. :p

As far as the match it was awesome, I'm a little amazed at how much the Assassins and Snipers get to dominate even in comp, though. It's troubling because I'm used to the sniper and stealth classes becoming less useful as the teamwork level increases (see TF2). That said, we obviously didn't have much of a strategy coming into this game. All we had was the classes we thought would work and a vague notion of how to play MNC in pubs. :p

Some notes for all of you who are interested in this sort of thing:
-Assassins currently dictate all action right now. Your team will have to be coordinated around the sin and his juice to effectively push together, or else you will run into a lot of meaningless skirmishes that don't accomplish much.
-Control of juice is comparable to ubering in TF2. We played with no overtime and juice buying on, and in the future I would amend those rules somehow so that juice was at least twice as expensive.
-We played on Ammo Mule, which features the juice and annihilator in a SINGLE central location. To say the least, whoever controlled the middle had control of the map, thanks largely to their bot spam and juices, which allowed them to maintain constant pressure and then punch through into our ball.
-When you are stuck back in your base, nothing but a coordinated push will get you out. Use your support's firebase or a single Tank to hold one lane while the others push out in a single lane and force the enemy to fall back. (don't count on turrets, ever)
-We used a very TF2-esque strat: Two assaults as roamers, one to each lane. Support/Gunner to hold the center. Sniper to control sightlines and Assassin to lead pushes. It would have worked if I hadn't thought of these jobs after the fact.
-BCN used a more mixed strat, running one of each class (right?). I honestly feel that Tank has no place in competitive MNC at the moment, mostly because all he can do to be useful is clean up bots and pros who are off balance. Generally the Gunners on each team had the most kills after the Assassin or Sniper (one or the other), while the Assaults (who would normally topfrag by far in a pub) were forced to play the Scout's role from TF2: harassment and flanking.
-Ejectors were used constantly and effectively, good call both teams
    -Bot spawning was completely underused
-Offensive Ice Traps and Flaks are a game changer, seriously consider playing your sniper forward

That's all I can think of right now. Let's continue this conversation though :p

Excellent writeup. If Uber continues to develop tools for the competitive community, I can really see competitive MNC taking off. Lots of room for skill and strategy. :D

I was getting absolutely dominated by Killz. A good sniper can really shut down the bigger/slower classes (tank/gunner), and an excellent sniper can control everything. We had to make sure someone(s) were actively harassing the sniper so we could get anything done.

    EDIT:
Tank is great at helping with Assassins (lighting them on fire) and controlling lanes. However, a good sniper makes them much harder to use effectively.

Tanks are really really good. I'm not sure what you're talking about. Tanks can dominate and have way more variance that gunner with their charge, death blossom and rail gun.

Not for ammo mule. Tanks benefit the most when they have multiple routes to close the distance between them and their opponent. On maps like Ammo Mule, I find there just isn't enough cover for them to progress without being taken out quickly by snipers. Yes, they do have more maneuverability with their charge, but a decent sniper can still keep a bead on them, and frankly frantic rail gun shots just aren't that frightening. However, a gunner, despite having some serious maneuverability issues, still has two weapons that are both very powerful at keeping snipers off his tail.

Frankly, as any class, I'm infinitely more scared of a good gunner than a good tank. Tanks have their massive bot cleaning capability, but it just doesn't fit with the playstyle of open maps, where assassins have infinitely more use.

Snipers get better on Ammo Mule by default by the nature of the map. Scathis has actually said LOS was a big part of map design. They knew they made snipers better on Ammo Mule. That's why they added glass walls on Steel Peel for example.

We don't even have leagues yet and people already cry for changes in juice prices.

I think juice prices should depend on the number of bots. If there are lots of bots you can make money faster, it's easier to gain juice and buying juice could be a little bit more expensive. If Uber decides to go with less bots...

To raise juice prices is actually a good idea. Due to the huge number of bots , it pretty much just came down to farming / buying juice and unloading it into the enemy base towards the end of the match, from what I saw at least c:

Also, Killz was just scary, and how does he occassionally survive backstabs as a sniper? I was so surprised when his health went down all the way but then he suddenly stood up and grappled me ._.

Sorry guys. I was going to post this game with Team Bacon's live callouts on my youtube channel but I fudged up the recording because I lowered my resolution right before hitting record with fraps. Fraps did not approve and the resulting video had skips and it recorded in 1920x1080 since the steam overlay does not adjust itself to the new resolution without a game restart.

    So yeah, let's rematch sometime!

Also, Fox asked what classes we used but I can't remember what anyone played except OD, Zanarias and myself (Assault, Gunner, Assault respectively). I know we did not use support and I feel like we may not have had a tank either?
