Had my first try at the beta today and figured I would share my experience.

starting on a metal planet, enemy ai commander landed on a natural structure and could not make a base or move.
accidentally made a Halley on the planet thinking it was what sends my commander to other planets... suggestion here being maybe a warning saying that it shouldn't be placed on current planet?
an exploit I found is that if my advanced builder simply starts an advanced building he can leave it and my basic builders can complete it, about 2 or 3 basic builders fabricate the building as fast as one advanced one and 3 basic builders cost about half of what the advanced one does.
multiple metal deposits placed on terrain I couldn't get to.
cannot salvage buildings or destroy them with my own units, this feature would be nice as I wasn't aware of the advanced metal building until after i spammed the regular version of it on all nearby metal deposits.

This is just my first experience with the game and even with no AI i had fun and enjoyed testing the waters, hopefully someone already brought these bugs and exploits to Uber's attention, if not maybe they will see it here.

I just wanted to say that you are supposed to be able to remove the advanced builder. I am not sure why they are slower to build, but as per Total Annihilation that behavior is to be expected. In general you want to have multiple builders, especially the commander for large projects.

Note that each builder costs more resources/second so don't go overboard if you can't afford it.

Pressing delete when a unit is selected will cause it to self-destruct.
(It was very fun during alpha when you could do this to opponents' units too :p)
