Currently, I'm having a problem where my game has no models for the buildings and units. the planets also generate as black globes that, if they contain water, stands out like its neon. I can control and move the units around, but they've all apparently just turned their cloaking fields on or something. I just updated my drivers, so I hope that isn't the problem, and I want to make it clear I'm not too computer savvy. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Did you verify the download. You may just have missing files, that verifying can fix.

I used the steam's 'verify integrity of game cache' to ensure it was working okay. might try deleting it entirely and downloading it again.
EDIT: that failed to work as well.

Can you please upload your DxDiag.txt?

Most likely your problem related to outdated drivers.

    You have really serious problem:
    Code:
    Memory: 2048MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 2048MB RAM
You won't able to run PA with 2GB RAM. :(
4GB is minimum and 6-8GB is enough for most of games.

    ...
Anyway your drivers is really old and you need to update them:
    Code:
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
    Driver Date/Size: 7/6/2010 19:53:20, 594432 bytes
You need to get latest generic drivers from AMD website:

Updating the drivers really helped, thanks for the link! I'm happy to say I will soon be upgrading my amount of ram, so that won't be too much of a problem.
