It would be pretty awesome if we had a way to convert excess energy into added metal gain in some way.
I'm just wondering if it is in the planning or not.

What if we had fusion reactors? They convert mass into energy. And heavier mass. So they are a metal producing building, as well as a metal producing building.

It's your one stop economy shop.

Ok it's stupid for game balance. Even if they did explode with the power of the sun.

They said they want to avoid it, unless it's absolutely necessary (which it is not). They hard (if even possible) to balance with mexes, and they discourage territory control.

Dont you notice ppl say this game got nothing to do with supreeme commander 2,that got those things you want!

Your thoughts feed my questions about ,the similar structure off PA/Sup2.

Please God no, this is the single worst feature of the TA/SUPCOM games. The second these things emerge expansion just stops. Why make your territory harder to defend when you can consolidate? Less for an anti-nuke to cover, less turret coverage needed, easier to respond to threats, etc.

    They are in FA.
    Nobody ever uses them competitively.
But they are a lot of fun in goofing off games.

    But... but... but... lasers?

Yeah nah. That's the actual reason coldworks. It kind of destroys the point of the RTS. You're fighting to eliminate your opponent, but you're also fighting for map control, which is the only thing driving the conflict. If all the players can consolidate their territory so they don't have a border, what's the point in the game?

There aren't actually many RTS's that make it so you can produce resources without moving. Most of them do have a territory victory, or rare resources scattered around the map, or an inability to produce one of the essential resources without map control. It's much better to have a resource that forces map control, rather than eliminating that for a building which actually detracts from the core point of the game.

Besides that, look at real life conflict since the history of man. In the vast majority of cases it's because there is a resource in one territory that some other group wants.

    ^ this

Particularly on big-map games, there comes a point where metal makers simply replace mexes.
