When I heard the dubstep joke on the kickstarter video I was laughing my arse off! I couldn't imagine Sci Fi and dubstep going together, but later I heard the OST of Defiance (a videogame and TV show) by Bear McCreary and it's really good:

I hope there will be quiet tracks like on TA & FA, remember the nice tracks you could hear at the beginning of a game before there is any fight.
The tracks that expressed in music all the wonders of the brand new world our commander has landed on, stimulating exploration and expansion.

Because having a 100% "epic/battle/angry" soundtrack is a nonsense and produce the exact opposite effect.
I find the current OST way too much "epic" with way too much choirs and tiring effects. So much that i turned it off.

If you listen TA's soundtrack for example, there is lots of quiet and pleasant musical moments between the battle tracks which erupt when there's a fight occuring on screen.
Always having battle tracks actually destroy the whole dynamic, erase all contrast between peace and war, and ultimately shows a way less epic and more ordinary war...

I hear you. To paraphrase Howard there is no big without small.

    livestream february 1st, 2013 with Howard's corner:

all of it is audio stuff and things

Some other games he's done music and sound design for Demigod, Space Siege, Supreme Commander 2, Moon Breakers and Super/Monday Night Combat.

I'm so nervous because the soundtrack is such a key part of the experience and Total Annihilation had what is probably my favourite gaming soundtrack of all time. Just as important is how well your music ties into the events on screen, getting the calm before the storm, and only launching into the big pieces once the battle has truly been joined.

TA's legacy in this regard is a lot to live up to, I can't wait to see what Uber produce.

Hold on he's working over the weekend to get this recorded with the Orchestra? Looking forward to it. I hear there are some kind of Latin lyrics for the Choir? Since my user name borrows a Latin (from Greek) prefix I am naturally intrigued.

Yes! Once it's safe he'll take a turn conducting. Safe means good tracks laid down.

How long will it take to process the recordings so they can be put into the game? ;)

I don't know. They have to be mastered and mixed etc. That's really a Howard question but he's kind busy...

I imagine a good answer is 'longer than you want it to take'. ;)

Patience and all that... yet you tease us with the
    Masterpiece. :( lol.

Andrew has taken a ton of video. We've also be mic'ing up people here and there as well. I've taken some b roll on my phone for posterity as well. We could almost make a documentary just about the music process ;)
