Lava Planets

If bots experienced pushback from artillery weapons generally, being tossed into the lava and getting destroyed would be an interesting subtlety.

this was my thoughts/assumption as well

this in conjunction with most of the planet having impassable terrain (or terrain that has other disadvantages or whatever) is a nice risk/reward scenario for this planet type.
