The title says it all. Maybe if we'd spam some popular podcaster's channels begging them to do a video about this game, then it could convince them to actually do it and thus boost the popularity of this game, creating a bigger community while giving the devs more ressources to work with. And I'm actually serious here. It's a simple task and everyone can do it. Just search for your favorite podcaster who didn't show interest in this game yet and post something like "Please do a video about Planetary Annihilation" in the comments section. If enough people do that, then I'm sure that it will show some success. Because I heard people like Husky say that he'd follow requests if enough people called for it. It could be organized, too. Imagine it like a flashmob, just on the internet. It's just an idea. Don't laugh at me because of it And maybe you people are having ideas on this, too. Greetings
No, do not 'nag' or 'beg' anyone about showing interest into PA. All that leads to is that the first point of contact these people have with PA will be people annoying/badgering them about it and that's not a good first impression. Mike
The best way to get people interested in PA is to tell your friends. Some of them will be interested in it, and they'll tell their friends, and then your friend's friends will tell their friends. It's a cascade effect, and it's easy to start.
Big Youtubers like TotalBiscut have already done videos on this game a couple of times, so this isn't really necessary.
Yeah, but different podcasters have different fanbases, so saying that because one podcaster did videos doesn't mean that we reached them all.
And if they're any good at they're job they either already know about PA and have either; -decided to Wait to see how it is at release. -decided that it is of no interest to them. -decided that it is of interest and have or will do a video. Mike
I thought we already were? Not only did we pay money, but we are giving them feedback on whats good and what isnt.
I don't think this is a bad idea if done right and not coming off as annoying or rude to a potential big commentator. I think if this approach was used to ask reviewers ( i'm not saying you have to be friends with one but ask in a friendly way) instead of begging or nagging a reviewer to look at PA we can probably get some acknowledgement Suggest it to them and tell them how awesome it is while being enthusiastic about it is the better approach and I think a strong way to get big names interested. I wish I could see an example of this happening but I don't feel like a reviewing site or youtube channel would out right discriminate against the game if a few people say they should take a look at Planetary Annihilation. They could if the people that request PA to be covered do it in a poor way.
I agree. We should want to tell everyone (friends and YouTubers alike) about this simply because it's awesome and we enjoy playing it. Nagging is never a good idea but a friendly "You should check out PA. It's epic!" always works wonders.
The problem is that if 500 people do it in short order, even if they're "nice" about it it's still 500 people essentially spamming them. To me 'organized' communication like that, regardless of how nice the individual messages are, are pretty transparent and it's the underlying reasoning that most people dislike. Mike
What I'm saying is that people like day9 have a forum, with threads asking their community to suggest games for them to play. Husky has said repeatedly that he was looking into something only because many people suggested it to him. While organizing it in a way that results in spamming them doesn't sound like that good of an idea, occasional comments hinting to the game could have a very positive effect.
That is not the same thing as you originally suggested; And again, People like Day9 and Husky are deeply invested into the RTS genre, if they didn't already know about PA I'd be very surprised. Mike
Yes and where's the problem with changing my mind? If I'd be certain about everything I wouldn't need to create a thread like this.
