The build machine wipes the build directory clean in order to make sure cruft from old builds doesn't stick around. Which means that the papa files all have to be regenerated each build. There are no time stamps in the files, so the only reason I can think of for differences is if how we process source assets isn't deterministic. We are using libsquish for the DXT compression on textures and using Autodesk's FBX SDK to extract model data from the .fbx files the artists export from 3DS Max. I could believe that either of those could be giving us different but equivalent results run to run. Or it might be our stuff. When I wrote the papa stuff, I wasn't thinking about trying to get a deterministic output from the same inputs. I'll talk to the team about changing the build process to only wipe the final output directory but leave the intermediate results intact. Then it would only regenerate a papa file if one of the source assets changes. Come to think of it, the launcher only downloads changed files. And if we are changing papa files for no reason, then the launcher is downloading more than it needs to. Which is bandwidth we have to pay for, you might have to pay for, and certainly time you have to wait. Okay, I'm just going to make that change to the build setup.
I for one love this Idea... One of the my fav things in SupCom was being able to change and take out certain aspects of the game if I wanted to have certain type of game, like only ground units, or only air units, no experimental units, no nukes or what not, so if you plan on doing this again for PA thank you very much in advanced. The ability to really tweak what sort of game you personally want to have is just an awesome option to have for me personally.

If someone selects this it should disable the hotkeys those buttons where using automatically. I just tried a game and while panning around with WASD my command kept stopping building.
Unfortunately the same graphics error, which appeared in 54574 is still present, which cause black screen on startup - nothing is rendered. The 54497 works perfectly fine. small annoying bug: when you click on the "B" and watch the video, when you close the video before ends, the entire game UI is frozen and you cant click anything enywhere. so the only solution is ALT-F4 to terminalte the game in windows.
Have reported this bug under. FS#2327 can only get it to launch once in a while. seems to be an error with how the gpu buffer is accessed

Happens to me too if the window automatically closes before the video finishes. Win7 64bit. Steps to reproduce: start the beta video pause the video wait 1:20 for the window to automatically close try to reopen the beta video
