It's time to talk unit ideas

    What if it is a structure that significantly slows all units within a wide radius, without doing any damage? The pathfinding system that Uber has described seems like it would cause units to travel around that area, if that is going to be faster. Not sure what happens to air though. Would they fall out of the sky if they don't get enough speed?

    I would be worried about doing this if people could just set up artillery in the middle of that area, but it could probably be balanced.

    slow-beam is a weapon type in some spring RTS. it's a cool mechanic, much like the capture-beam and emp (stun) weapon effect.

    Another vote for the deviator and may I also ask for a unit similiar to the sonic tank?
    It would have an especially good time with current pathfinding making armies look like strings of cheese ;).

    As already mentioned, put in most of TAs units and then improve on that. Its unit variety was great, though not all beeing of massive use all the time. Special units are needed, for example the shooter. Cloaked, blue laser of death but vulnerable once discovered and slow rate of fire, a good assasin.

    And for the more obscure stuff:
    + GravityBomb. T2 bot, expensive, no weapons, slow moving. Single use. When activated it temporary generates an extreme source of gravity, destroying itself and pulling ALL other units, trees, stones, arty projectiles, missiles and whatever else in a given radius towards it. With terraforming implemented some time, it could also distort a small planet a bit. Just a bit ;).

    - Anti-artillery split-up bot. its a robot that splits up in multiple smaller robots to dodge artillery hits. maybe automatically merge into 1 again after a few moments.

    Dang, one day late and I missed 10 pages. I'll attempt to separate myself from TA units as those were mentioned a bunch.

    • Orbital drop factories assembled in space. Drops down a factory at location for fast reinforcing.
    • A mobile defensive tower, of sorts, deploys to fire
    • underwater versions of buildings XP (cause above water isn't cool enough)
    • Terrain modifying units, (remove impassible terrain :D)

    Flowfield Tank - A tank that constantly pushes back other units by manipulation of the flow field.

    An expensive building with a big bomb inside which creates a crater when it explodes.
    I'm especially fond of surface terraforming ideas like blasting canals to restrict opponent's movement or to free yours.

    That is totally not my point.
    Yes, your army usually would do that, but with orbital weapons, tac missile launchers without having a viable defense against it, other than destroying it...
    We have multiple theaters of war, it takes simply time to switch from one planet to another. This is bad, especially since the units die in this game so far, rather quickly.
    A bunker would not enhance turteling, since it would come with serious downsides, just buy a few more seconds.

    Burrowers, similar to the Burrow ability the Zerg have in Starcraft.
    A unit that can quickly burow it's way into the ground, out of sight, though unable to move. Use these to set up traps and ambushes. Detectable by radar and perhaps an orbital unit?

    And should they make it in, a mobile radar unit would be needed I think.
