    Hey chaps,

I downloaded the beta last night. I must say I am excited. However, my internet bandwidth is really not that great. I've never been able to enjoy smooth multiplayer games, and as such I am an almost exclusively singleplayer kind of guy. However, I do very much want to play this, and so I was wondering when the singleplayer function will be available. I'm not asking for campaign or anything. Simply a singleplayer version where I can play and test this game on the custom solar systems I'm creating.

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Thanks. Anyway to get the AI only custom games to work? I've tried but every time I click ready it makes me wait for more players.

It's not waiting for more players - it's actually waiting for the server to load.

It just so happens that it'll let new players join while that happens. People on the forum have been saying that small systems load faster. I haven't tried this myself, but it makes sense so I don't have many doubts.

First: this might be fixed in new version of game which just goes online.

Second: problem wasn't related to any game limitation, but to bugs in Steam version. So if you met them in new version try to download game using Uber launcher.

I'm think he's not talking on creating big system with lots of planets. 2 planets battle will never took more than 1 minute to generate it on server.

I'm totally sure that 99.9% issues related to long loading times was client side in Steam version.
And to be fair I'm really doubt there ever was any issues with server side, even while we have 800 players online I'm always was able to run game in less than 30 seconds.

Correct. I do have the steam version, so I'll see about downloading the Uber client.

so I downloaded the uber launcher and tried it. Unfortunately I get the same result when I tried my custom system. However, I made a 2-planet test system and that did work.

I greatly enjoyed the game, though I have some thoughts. I defeated the ai, but nonetheless I feel it's a bit aggressive for some players. I think some variety in ai aggressive/defensive attitudes would be good. Also, I'd love to not start on the same planet as the other players.

How many planets in your custom system? May be it's just too much for your computer?
Also if possible upload DxDiag.txt, so we'll see your hardware configuration.

I'm sure my custom system would have loaded if given enough time. However, it was a race against loading before another human pops in.

My custom system had 3 clusters. Each cluster had 1 of each planet. I'd designed it for 3 players, though it can easily accommodate more.

It's mean 21 planet. Even generation of 16 planets took about 9GB of RAM while you totally have 8GB. You still can use "virtual memory" on HDD, but it's extremely slow and it's not likely your hardware will able to load anything like that.
For your hardware something like 5-7 planets is limit currently.

PS: Also at least previous version have limit of 16 planets for one generation.

One question: have you already configured your system to run PA.exe on Nvidia graphics card?

Then let's follow standard procedure :p
You can get much better performance than you have now.

First your drivers are pretty old, you'll get better performance if you update them:
    Code:
Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
    Driver Date/Size: 8/16/2012 00:24:36, 8281600 bytes
For Intel download and install "Win64_153117.exe" from here:
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23106
    Code:
    Name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M
    10/8/2012 15:42:52
For Nvidia download and install drivers from here:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-64bit-327.23-whql-driver.html

When you finish updating of drivers watch this video how-to on youtube:

And then configure your drivers to run PA.exe on high performance Nvidia graphics card.

PS: But yeah this still won't let you generate 21 planet on your laptop. :)

This doesn't surprise me. After playing a game with a mere 2 planets I realized how large they actually are. 21 planets was a bit ambitious, but hey. I didn't realize how large they are.

unfortunately intel says my driver is customized and so I can't download the update drivers. I'll try the NVidia download.

Crappy laptop manufacturers never update those drivers and block you from installing new one, while they physically can't customize Intel graphics because it's built into CPU. :(

Game won't use this card anyway, so you can ignore it. But if you want you can bypass this using this manual:
