Such as moneyball health? That would be a great option to add to a server.

Maybe even turret health. ServerVariables are always fun to be able to change. Even small stuff like bot buying and etc, etc would be nice to modify.

So that each and every server owner can pretend to know which settings make for a good game? No thanks, have a good day.

I can see where he is coming from. If there is a lot of choice in the game's settings then it will be hard to find a regulation game and most people would do things that you may not seem logical. It is good to have choices but not for the people who enjoy the game as it is.

Indeed it is, you'll end up with the camp of people not liking overtime, the camp of people not liking juice, the camp of people not liking supports (provided they fix class limits), the camp of people not liking custom classes.

I already hear "durr don't play on that server" and stuff but splitting a community among different rulesets is not something that I can support.

The game was balanced around overtime and juice and stuff, disabling it is crippling and mutilating the game.

So yes, Choice is bad in this case.

Choice is fine, all you have to do is flag servers as pure or not pure with an easily filterable browser option.

I guarantee there'll still be more stock servers than anything else regardless.

You may be a bit extreme but I agree with you on some stuff. Juice buying and OT is another totally different thing. If you want to turn them off then I see no problem with this. I feel that a good regulation game is without Juice and Overtime. However i would not want to join a game where bots have no health and turrets have twice as much. Or the money ball dies from 1 juiced pro and i think you are going to find many servers like this.

Edit, maybe not but if they add this, they are going to need to show all this information to me so i don't keep joining lame servers

People will complain to be flagged as impure for altering the length of the rounds, you heard it here first. Avoiding that mess by just not bowing down to populism will make for a healthier, more unified community.

Sure you'll lose some players who cannot be helped either way on the way but at least it means that everyone is playing the same game.

Re: Is there plans to be able to customize small stuff:

Thing is though, I don't want moneyball rushes. If you were to up the moneyball health to something like 2-3 times it's original value; it could change EVERYTHING. I hate all these short 3 minute games. You know how easy it is for a good player against all the fodder players on the pc these days to kill a moneyball? NOT MUCH.

I get what you're saying, and i agree for the most part. I like default settings. However, default settings can only keep my attention for a year at the most. Games like CounterStrike have survived based on the fact that you can customize stuff to whatever you dream of, really. I mean, If I want an hour-long match, why not?

There's been option like in Bad Company 2 to up the amount of "ticks" in order to win/lose a game of domination. Well that's what I'm asking.

Also, turret health is pretty important. Base raping relies on mostly one thing: A well-played assassin. I'm a pretty good assassin myself and I know lot's of other great assassins that base-rape for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Need I say more?

Well stop them then, well played maneuvers pose no base for altering the balance in a game.

The lost art of adaption, amen

I'm not asking to alter the balance in a game. I'm asking the devs to allow custom rules for any/all servers owners for small things like moneyball health and/or damage done to it.

I just don't like how fast the moneyball dies. Stupid teammates vs a juiced support with a shotgun = game over. I don't see how that doesn't annoy you, unless you never juice rush yourself. :?

Some of us just don't enjoy a fun, evenly matched, drawn out slugfest turning into "WHO CAN RUSH THE MONEYBALL FASTER IN OVERTIME?!?!?!".

Options allow people to play the game how they like without hurting anybody, what's the problem?

Re: Is there plans to be able to customize small stuff:

All this is is conflicting views on whether or not default rules and regulations get boring or not. And people like me would not get bored. I would hate if people were able to change Blanka's health is street fighter just because they thought he was broken :)

However I fully understand why people would want these options. I just don't want to see the game turn into something too diverse to the point where you can't find a default game.
Every server will be whatever the host feels is balanced or fair which wouldn't be very balanced or fair to others.

Yeah, we all know that customization completely ruined TF2, CS, Warcraft 3, Starcraft...

    Wait...

All that needs to be done is adding a "Pure server" flag. Pure servers could have a little freedom (like juice buying on/off), but not much. Problem solved.

Pure servers should not have any freedom. (not even classlimits or timelimits or what have you, not a single option)

Re: Is there plans to be able to customize small stuff:

Shouldn't? Based on what eternal law? "Pure" is just a label, it can mean whatever is convenient. You said it yourself: if you flag servers as unpure when they just put class limits or something, they'll complain. So allow pure servers a little bit of freedom and everyone is happy. Or *gasp* invent an intermediate flag for when simple rules are changed . Like "Pure", "Custom rules", "Modified". "Modified" would mean that people have tinkered with stuff like stats.

Pure can mean anything derp. Tell me, if I say "pure water", what do I mean?

Personally I'd prefer a proper pure server over a slightly modified server which would still be labeled as pure to avoid confusion for new players.
