Building a System with approx 25 Bodies

    Hi All,

    Just tried building a system on build B54459 and I have approx 20 moons orbiting the outer system (a debris field so to speak) and 5 planetoids near the sun. I have left this building now for some 6 hours and I can't see that any progress has been made. All the while the PA.exe has been consuming 5,503.2MB of my 32GB system RAM and 14 to 15% of my CPU (AMD FX-8350).

    Any ideas how long this should take approximately or if it is crashed and I need to force close and try again?

    Note: I should add that it built and saved the 5 initial planetoids pretty quickly (2 mins) and then I added all of the moons for the asteroid/debris field :(

    What video card you have? Game can really being stuck because lack of video memory.

    Sorry should have said - AMD Radeon HD 7800 with 2GB GDDR5.

    6 hours? sounds broken to me, just tried a quick 15 body system on my machine, rendered fairly quick (5m) but really wasn't liking it afterwards and had to force close the program.

    wow, err yeah try redoing it.. sounds like you did way to much more then it can handle right now, devs already stated its not opimized and really we should only try small systems because its only the first iteration of multiple planets, there are a lot of bugs. With that small usage on your system, sounds like its complete froze.

    Did you try building the entire system? I'm not sure that works correctly. Mine was stuck forever building a system with just 5 bodies. Try individually building each body and then saving.

    Closed it and tried again.

    Initial building seemed to take 90% CPU and 5GB of system RAM, but it is still building after 5 mins. Will give it an hour and report back :)

    good luck... I still thing you pushing the limits of the beta though with that amount haha... sounds better though now its using almost your entire CPU now :D

    Hmmm,

    Still no good, the whole thing seems to give up around the 16 planets mark... I also just counted and I have 35 celestial bodies in this system. I tried manually building but again got stuck around the 16 planets mark...

    Going to try and play it now without hitting the build button. Wish me and the others luck!!!

    7GB RAM and running, but not very well - nice test though and it only loaded 16 planets from the system so I guess that 16 is a hard limit ATM :)

    Thats definitely the hard barrier limit for the beta right now then by the sounds of it, which is what I was thinking there might be a limit, to add 35 bodies in a system is a bit crazy at this stage lol

    One thing I found helpful was to build each planet/moon individually by clicking "Preview." It seems to break the work into manageable chunks. If I try to add a ton of stuff, and then "build" the system all at once, it never finishes. Also, keep mountain topography at whatever the default setting is. That seems to drag things down too.
