Watching the livestream I remember @neutrino mentioning that water is still evolving. Thinking about this, especially on full-water planets I thought that some water details might be nice. Aesthetic stuff like sand textures and weeds, but also obstacles such as coral reefs that would prevent submersibles from passing through.

Agreed. A plain ball of water would be super boring, also i really like water details.

Players generate the planets they want.

    I don't think that's the point here.

There aren't tools in the game right now for making an interesting water planet. Water planets were a stretch goal along with navy, so indeed having mechanics like underwater path-blocking and water decals would be sweet to have without modding it and would make a simple ball of water much more vivid.

Actually the tools are there, it's the same 'tools' that give us forests, mountains and plateaus on land, the problem is that there isn't any materials for those tools to work with(aside from land being an obstacle to water units) like the mentioned coral reefs for example.

Could have like water falls, varying heights of water.

Those water swirls or what they are called, like you know when you let water out of your sink, happens in real life occeans as well.

Even just bigger waves would be nice.
