Waiting until the gameplay is in a more finished state before commenting is at the top of my list.

Also worth noting that in this usage Gameplay is completely separate from Balance.

Stopping the turtling would be easy. It's giving nukes a role that's useful and not overpowered that's hard.

If you ask me they should change nukes. It should do less damage but emit an EMP pulse to disable all things within a certain range for a set duration.

Beta will change this. And Beta will be released in a matter of hours.

However, turtling requires having small amounts of map control. Expand faster than your opponent and build a bigger economy and a larger army. Keep up constant aggression from the very beginning. Don't let your opponent turtle – if you harass him enough, he will have to allocate his economy to defending against your attacks and the constant losses should keep him pinned down.

Although there have been games where one player has turtles hard while a war raged around them with the other teams. At that stage they had amassed an impenetrable fortress.

I suppose keeping the pressure on early is key.

That fortress means diddly in a game like PA, where you don't actually need to directly attack the player in order to attack the player, just explode the planet and be done with it. Frankly, in the situation you describe, I'd be more worried about a guy that built up a huge Eco and Fabber capacity than just a guy that just sat back and turtled.

Yep. It's a game of economic expansion. If you have a crapton of fabbers and the economy to back them you can pivot quickly. I love the little building battles that happen on the frontline sometimes.

So how do you regain map control once you've lost it if economic expansion is everything? When the enemy has 2/3 of the mass on the map is it just time to quit? I like how in FA I'm able to sneak a couple sub commanders with resource generation into a corner of a map, build a mavor without them knowing and turning the tide on a once confident dominating player with map control. Sounds impossible in PA though... How does one come back from the brink in PA if turtling is hated so much?

Given the incredible cost of any T3... sorry, I ment orbital and spacefaring units its unlikely that the economic dominating player won't have those too...

How can one turtle effectively when the whole solar system is there for the taking. Just expand, grab an asteroid and smack it into them.

Thread is meaningless on a galactic scale.
