Will PA have an in-game feedback system for when the Beta comes out? I like supporting the game, providing feedback, etc...but I think a more effective means of gathering information would be directly in game. As a user, i'm more likely to report issues as they happen, with more details, comparred to when I sit on it for a bit. More importantly, and above timely information, you can enforce a standard means of collection details. This will make collection UAT information much easier. There doesn't seem to be a lot of structure surrounding user input.
The trouble is, if you make it too easy for people to report bugs, then every single person who sees a bug will report it individually, and Uber simply doesn't have the manpower (and womanpower - wouldn't want mkrater to feel left out) to deal with that volume of feedback. The current system has dealt adequately with the issues raised in Alpha - one would hope that Beta will be significantly less buggy, so it should be more than ample to deal with any bug reports that do occur, while ensuring that Uber's workload is... manageable.
That's fair - One could argue though that spamming a forum with bug reports, suggestions and such would be just as arduous as an in-game system. The major advantage to in-game, versus out of game, aside from ease of use, is a filterable, categorizable and methodicle approach to capturing data. If you had a central repository of feedback information one could solicit volunteers to sift through reports and push through the meaninful, useful, legible ones. Using a forum is next to impossible to manage, from a data POV, as people generally fail at giving threads meaniful subjects. (not knocking individuals, just fact.) Personally, i've always found it challenging sifting through a forum to see if something has been reported before. It's usally common place to post somethign that's already been posted.
I'm going to go ahead and guess you haven't spotted the bug tracker in the Alpha forum? https://forums.uberent.com/threads/bug-repository-pa-tracker.46855/ EDIT: Dammit, Zaphod.
