I don't think asteroid impacts have to be in the first version of beta (because its quite an advanced feature).
I would already be VERY happy if we only got interplanetary travel and colonization working.

As you guys can tell we are a little behind where we want to be. Rolling out beta is a big deal because we will be having a lot more players come into the community. Interplanetary warfare is a must obviously at that point. Working hard on it.

    Hey Neutrino
So will the next update be Beta? Are there more Alpha-Level Updates to come?
Could you release numbers of how many players will have Beta-Access?
Sorry, I am just an impatient person ;).

    Thanks

I would also be very interested to know how many beta keys will be sent out and how many times larger the playerbase will potentially grow.

I think Uber will put interplanetary in an alpha update to prevent horrible bugs or performance problems. If the alpha test is going well they will announce the beta otherwise the push out a hotfix and test again.

12000 Kickstarter backers who have beta but not alpha. But how many preorders is the question

Alpha is generally a technology test whereas Beta is a gameplay test. (there are a few games that strongly deviated from this tho).
So yea, by the time we get Beta every major feature should be in. I can't wait to annihilate some people.

I know Beta means feature complete but there are so many Beta user i would do a Alpha test bevor. Balancing and bug fixing is Beta stuff but game crash bugs should be mostly fixes in Alpha.

It would be fun to see if there are a few pro/semi-pro players from other rts games in the beta backers. :D

there probably are. The "best" players of alpha will be still good, but I expect a lot of other good players to rise with beta. Getting more interesting games to watch. Additionally the new features will make it more exciting. I have to admit, that watching current 1v1 matches is sometimes boring^^

I understand not wanting to hold up beta, but I would think for beta you would want asteroid impacts, even if it just used an over sized nuke as a place holder for the impact. Just cause of the video that was made for the kick starter.

Buy hey, in the end, its done with its done, even if it is after the start of beta.

One thing though, you may want to release a disclaimer about what the beta is when beta is finally released. I see a flood of wine from the people on steam.

Keep up the good work Neutrino, just don't forget to take breaks and pace yourself. We would all rather wait longer than have you rush something out the door and you will never find a more demanding boss in your career than yourself.
