Commenting on a first person view of my game

    So some people asked me to do a video commenting on what I do while playing.
    Here it is:

    Imho not really that interesting, but well maybe somebody likes it.

    Good stuff, thanks for that! For some reason I assumed with a name like Cola_Colin you'd have an American accent :)

    The tips I found most interesting:
    a) Attack moving of levelers
    b) Not using assist, just reordering all the units. I keep persisting with the assist function, but just giving up on that sounds very wise!
    c) Using scout routes on land units near the enemy's resources. I've only really done air patrols
    d) Putting those extra 'walk' waypoints on the end of pgen rows so the comm doesn't get stuck.

    So you strategy just aims for creating a simple T2 death-ball to steamroll your enemy? (3 words neutrino hates for sure :p)

    And mere 2 T1 fighters are sufficient to keep a whole planet bomber-free?

    Feels kind of sad how limited the options are right now. Saw you juggle a bit with energy, but apart from this it only shows how shallow the game currently is, except for the struggle with stupid units and pathfinding bugs. Spread out at an exponential rate and whoever has the first deathball wins, with little to no real conflicts mid game.

    In that game my concept was indeed to do rather early t2 and push with it.
    2 fighters ? No 2 fighters are not enough at all. I was building air the whole time?
    I would not base how shallow or not shallow a game is on a single 1v1. This wasn't a very exciting game because my opponent was not expanding that good tbh. But it was okay to talk a bit about general concepts and common actions.

    But yeah sure generally the game isnt very developed right now. That's mostly the result from the fact that navy and orbital is too unfinished to be used a lot.

    Kryovow, I worked out he's German - sheesh! My point is that cola_colin with the big coke logo just conjured up pictures of an American dude, but listening to the video quickly corrected that! :)

    Given the release is targeted for December I do wonder how close to the vision it will be when we get there. It's about 12 weeks; unless a lot is being held back in developer only builds (which neutrino has said isn't the case), the structural background work will want to be pretty good to let them get some pretty massive chunks done by release: interplanetary, completing the naval sets, gas giants, soundtrack stuff, building remaining land/air units, graphical refinements and postprocessing, and optimisation. And then balancing - that will be a huge task in itself, which often happens over multiple months of beta for some games (eg coh2 was in beta for a fair while I think). So in the next 3 months the building *and* balancing must happen! It's a big ask, I think it may take longer than that to get it to a polished state.
