Will there be water on these planets like in TA?

Probably. We've already got Lava Worlds to completely stop the use of naval. In my mind, metal worlds would generate canals of water, rather than lakes, promoting the use of lightning fast and area denial over "strips" of the planet.

Liquid mercury pools or lakes of pollution is a solution. These are ancient giant death weapons that need to be reactivated so why not have leaks. Minor leaks over millenia could create lakes/oceans that due to back ups don't effect the gameplay or lore and still include the lore. With the huge amount of units having specialised naval units for metal that can then go up and down the canals from these lakes adds so much

I'll definitely be interested in how they go about implementing 'water' on metal planets (assuming they do choose to do so). It doesn't seem like any sort of 'water' would match up with the aesthetic they're going for at the moment. Anyone good at art wanna have a crack at doing a good looking metal planet with 'water'?

Am I the only one who really doesn't want them to attempt water on metal planets? As they showed last night, those long 'canyons' will serve to break the map up in the same way water might, and having any type of water on an artificial body like this would totally ruin the immersion (pun not intended) for me.

Yeah water on a metal planet doesn't sit right with me.

I have no issues with it as long as it's textured and shaded as toxic sludge.

I would like the ability to carve out freshwater reservoires for my metal-locked prison planets, please. I need fresh salmon for my robots furnaces. Delicious, delicious salmon.

I agree completely. The goal they're aiming for now, ie - the artwork from way back when, is a pretty good goal and definitely doesn't need water. Water might even mess it up. If they really want to implement water, I would think that they'd need to rework the entire aesthetic of the metal planet. Which I wouldn't mind at all, as long as we got both types of metal planets.

What would be wrong with some of the trenches being a little wider, and filled with sludge?

Are you lot really that traumatised by "Over Crude Water"?

Seven Islands it was. I remember having to get more ram to be able to play the large maps and once I got it we got awesome sea battles on it. (Ofc with gunships deactivated.)

We will carry the scars for the rest of our lives.

(@smallcpu, over crude water was a different map to seven islands. Renowned for it's ability to throw all attempts at pathfinding out the window).

I don't actually mind the way water worked on metal worlds in TA. But if it's not there, I won't really miss it either.

Metal Heck was fun, but I don't like the idea that every metal planet has you locked out of naval units.

The word "Ironclad" is just too synonymous with naval combat to be ignored on iron-clad planets!

True, but we don't yet know what kind of gameplay will even occur on these planets. Mavor suggested they aren't looking to put metal deposits on them (and I don't think he meant "mexes can be built everywhere", either).

Nah, what I ment was that Seven Island was a great map so I'm all for some coolants on metal planets. Some quicksilver lakes and whatnot.

Was over crude water that maze like metal map? Never really played it much.

As for metal heck... meh, boring. Pure metal maps were never much fun. Seven Island was great as naval did demand lots of metal so it fit well, but ground based metal maps were kinda boring imo.

Metal points will (probably) exist on Metal Planets. They just won't look like "scuffs", they'll look like "plugs"
