'Lo, all. New Planetary Annihilator here, just preordered the Galactic Edition last night. Played, or rather, tried to play a few games, and encountered horrendous framerates. I estimate I'm getting 10-15 frames per second: technically playable, but intensely annoying.

Now, I do understand that this is an alpha and technical issues are to be expected. I am not going to rant or attack anyone; I'm just curious if this is a common issue, and if so, if there's a workaround or solution. I really, really want to love PA. I loved Total Annihilation, and I still love Supreme Commander. (Supreme Commander 2, not so much, but that's a whole other kettle of fish.) Planetary Annihilation looks like it might be my RTS fix for the foreseeable future.

Please find attached DxDiag.txt, and thank you.

Your drives are a little bit old, but other than that, your machine should do fine on it.

You can play with the settings a bit, and they might help. One other thing to do is use ctrl-p while playing so you can see if it's actually frame rate that's the problem, or sim/network. If you're seeing fairly high consistent frame rates, then it's back end stuff.

All of these things will continue to get more focus over the coming months, and I imagine we'll spend a bit of time optimizing right before or at the start of beta.

I didn't want to start a new thread for that so I will just use this one. If thats a problem please move my post.

I got 10-20 fps at the beginning of a game, but whenever the game goes on for over ~15 mins and the unitcount starts to go up the game becomes unplayable. Meaning < 1 fps.
Doesn't matter if it's 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, ... . At the same time other players in the game (one who even played on a laptop) got no problems at all (meaning 20-30 fps).

My PC really isn't that bad (i5 2500k, 560ti, newest drivers, 8GB DDR3 RAM), and I am playing on 1920x1080 but on the lowest possible settings (low shadows, ...).

I know this is alpha and I dont expect wonders, I am just curious why it works for others, but not for me.
Only thing I noticed ingame is that the RAM is used over 95%. CPU and GPU are only at about 70%.

10-20 FPS on start of game isn't okay for your GPU. Everyone have lags, but 10-20 on start with lowest settings it's too low.

Seems like you have 2 or 3 monitors? Can you confirm that?

There was other topic about lags from start (LINK):
So you really try run game with only one monitor connected or just check it with different driver options.

PA don't use CPU much because all simulation done by Uber servers. Planet generation on start of game is CPU intensive part of alpha.

Yeah, I actually use 3 Monitors. But only as extended desctops. Games normally only run on the main one. Perhaps this is an issue still due to the lack of full-monitor use!? I will try with mirroring.

Ok, I can confirm this: I disabled all other monitors in the windows settings and now I am getting 50-70 fps at the beginning of a game (single player though).
Is this already reported or should I creat a bug report?

Good news than. 50-70 fps at start is totally normal.

I doubt it's game issue, more like Nvidia driver issue.
I don't think it's was reported before, at least I can't find any on bugtracker related to performance drops on multi-monitors setup. Feel free to create new one:
    http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/inde ... &project=1

Also it's will be extremely helpful if you open this link:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/driverqual ... rance.html
And make proper bugreport to Nvidia. They usually fix bugs which reported by hardware owners.

I turned my graphics to the lowest settings, updated my drivers, and gained some improvement. I've seen framerates as high as 37FPS at the very beginning of games, before any building, but I'm still getting sub-10 framerates in actual play. My framerates are also very unpredictable; last night I played a 3-way FFA game in which I saw framerates in the 20s throughout, but just now played solo against an AI and got 7-8 FPS.
