I'd like to have an option whether or not nukes are allowed. Just had a game which was indeed fun but totally different than playing without. It was more like: 'If you attack me i'll nuke you' ... 'But then ill nuke you' It felt more like a cold war where everyone was waiting for the other one to make the first step and meanwhile building tons of stuff. But it was only one game and I cant really take this as example. Anyways sometimes I rather play without nukes. And I know it's alpha and you probably have other things to but it would be nice to have the option.
I don't think there's much of an issue. There's antinukes for one, and nukes are just the new thing right now, as soon as nukes become old they'll be used with moderation. That said I've suggested a more refined system in the alpha forum.
In Total Annihilation you had the option to disable any unit. In SupCom you had a few preset build restrictions like disabling nukes for example. I expect something similar to be available in PA.
Part of the purpose of alpha release is for us to get our money's worth, but another part is to use us as guinea pigs to catch as many problems with the game as we can before the beta release. If we were allowed to disable parts of the game, then those parts would receive less testing than the rest of the game. Within hours of the latest patch release, there were 4 new bugs filed about nukes. Granted, if we get the feature that allows us to disable parts of the game, then that feature itself will need testing.
