    I just purchased alpha access, but I was a kickstarter supporter. I am not going to pretend I know how to play, but I have been following this game closely, and have been watching several replays. My first 2 matches I played, both creamed me with several aircraft within 5 minutes. So badly that I could not keep my air defense towers up. I hade a few built, but bombers would come and very quickly destroy my energy production and my bot bay and vehicle bays within seconds. The AA towers went down with a single hit. This happened in both games.
    I have looked to see if there has been something done with aircraft to imbalance them, or a bug that allows rabid building, but I cannot see one.

    Did I join a game mid fight? I did not think this was possible.

    I was fully expecting to get creamed these first 2 matches. I am sure I will for time to come, but what the hell?

    Probably it's dumb question: have you played with real persons or with AI?

    No, it's not possible.

    I have a friend, clopse, he sometimes rushes a T2 Airfac and snipes your Comm with T2 Bombers in the first 5 minutes, but nothing this drastic. Mind you, literally everything but Bots can shoot down aircraft. I've even had fighters taken out by Bombers before.

    Also, to get you on your feet with this:
    1 Mex
    1 Power
    2 Mex
    1 Bot Factory -> 1 Scamper, 3 Fabbers, 4 Scampers/4 Stingers, 50+ Fabbers
    3 Power
    1 Air Factory -> 2 Scouts, 2 Bombers, 5 Fighters, 1 Air Fabber, 50+ Fighters
    Spam Power with Comm, build metal and spam vehicle factories with Fabbers

    That's my normal starting queue. I doubt it's the very best, and it isn't for every situation, but it keeps me from dying horrible deaths and keeps my units on the offensive.

    Also, another thing, if you can get Bombers to your opponent before he gets Bonbers to your base, he'll often forget about his Bombers and focus on defending. Go after Fabbers and land units, always approach tanks from behind and micro those Bombers,

    ...Yeah, PA's meta is a bit weird.

    Edit: Lol I forgot about the AI. Don't play eith the AI, THE COMPOOTER CHEATS!

    one question:

    fabber = constructor/engineer right?

    With current balances, fighters are much much better at anti-air defense. Seems like most of the time bombers will get shot down by anti-air turrets, but they'll still drop their bomb and damage/blow up your turret. Fighters won't get taken out and will absolutely shred bombers. Keep a large patrol of fighters going around your base/commander.

    If you really worried about bombers, getting one or two fighters is enough. A tier one fighter can kill a bomber in one shot and if you micro the fighter you can take out 5 bomber in about as many seconds.

    Though building about 5-6 t1 anti air unit and spreading them a bit out in your base should be enough to kill any amount of early game bombers.

    Thanks for the feedback. I have no idea if I was playing AI for sure or not, but I suspect that I was.

    You probably weren't playing an AI - the AI holds off on bombing runs for a while. I've played against increasingly many opponents who rush a T1 bomber as quickly as possible and use this to shut down your expanding fabbers. This rush seems to be trending in the metagame. (What? We have a metagame? Weird...)

    Heck, I've done it a few times just to see what it feels like so I can better defend against it. I've noticed it's not very effective on a map of size 3 or more, but I always plan for it now on 2s and 1s.

    You can defeat the rush by commander-assisting out a few T1 AA bots/vehs (1 is not good enough - often the bomber will kill it before it kills the bomber, 2 is ok, 3 is ideal) to escort your fabbers. T1 air fighters work too, but it takes longer to get those out.

    The best opening as far as I can tell (optimized for time to complete a T1 factory and start producing units) is mex, nrg, mex, fact (fabber), mex, nrg. Fabber goes to mex, commander continues on nrg. You may stall just before finishing the first nrg, but it's very minor, and you should not stall otherwise.
