They won't give you a schedule, because things may or may not go smoothly while trying to implement features. But bear in mind that Alpha is due to end in about a month, so I think they are hoping to have all core gameplay features implemented by then!
I I may not be an expert on the iterative process WrongCat, but I'll be surprised if we're not still getting "core" features halfway through Beta. Though perhaps that hinges on your definition of a "core feature".
Well I'm only guessing; Uber haven't given any firm deadlines, and rightly so, but I strongly suspect that they will want multi-planet, or at least multi-body, combat before unleashing the beta testers on the game (or perhaps it is the game that will be unleashed on the beta testers).
Multi-planet play aside, there still a tonne of what I'd call core features that aren't even halfway done yet. Jon said the process would speed up from this point onwards thanks to new hires... but the mountain of work left to do to make this more of a game, than a tech-demo, is staggering.
Surely that would make you more inclusionist when defining what's core and what's not, than me, wouldn't it?
Shush, my brain is suffering from lack of sleep... I have no idea whether you're right or wrong. I'm off down the pub for a lunchtime pint.
yes basicaly thats why i asked, we are comming closer to the beta, and i wouldsuggest we have "most" of the features the game will have in it then. maybe not multiplanet battles and asteroids, but for example all units, and the asked for battle on moons of planets. the multiplanet thing and the asteroids we have seen in the life-stream (rly awesome stuff!), but this will take some more time to get in. also i wouldnt call the alpha a tech-demo, its by now very good playble, and in some cases way better and with less bugs than some of the c&c-clones out there when they got released.
I'm harsh because I care. In terms of "All the Units" being in as opposed to asteroids and Multi-planet play, you've got it backwards; Multi-Planet play absolutely must be implemented before Alpha ends. The units though? Please don't expect that to happen until late Beta.
Fabbers do not collect wrenckages on patrol at all I just spammed with aircrafts wrenckage from AI attacks, graveyard at ever meter of my base
Strange that nobody post sytem editor screenshots yet, I decide to fix it: Anybody else played with system editor?
I don't in particular like this, the catapult is by far the most effective unit in the game. Mass about 20 to 30 of them, and any number of tanks and bots will be stopped, essentially all ground forces can be stopped. Sending in T1 bombers barely damage a catapult whereas T2 bombers take too long to produce and are easily countered by patrolling fighter planes. Seeing that you can then also build anti air ground defenses, it becomes somewhat of a perfect defense where you can build catapults faster than the enemy can destroy them. I know the game is not supposed to be balanced yet, but any turtle who's been given the chance to grow knows that this method is by far one of the strongest methods to stay alive. The only hopes of winning the game when this happens is to get a lucky commander snipe. While giving a turtle a chance to grow is a mistake, it is one easily made especially when you have to consider more than one opponent, and eliminating the most aggressive one is often something you are forced to do. So in the alpha this becomes a problem when people want to fight strategically on a planet sized scale. A defense against catapults would be a huge improvement as it shifts the balance more towards actually commanding units.
You need to edit media/ui/alpha/system_editor/system_editor.html Also View on sun from 4th planet in solar system (not same as on other screenshots): As Petard noticed (on second page of this thread) it's already here, but commented in HTML
very nice, but i was unable to "start" the simulation so the planets start to move around the sun. is that still not implementet or do i have to edit somewhere else? elso this needs mutch ram....i should get more than 4 gb^^"""
i do like the tank nerf. finally, we can actually gun down the tank blobs! also, their turret turn rate will (likely) make them much less effective at attacking air units, since they cant even aim upwards as fast anymore, making bombers a legitimate counter again. this also means that tanks can be FLANKED. split your own horde to assail the two flanks of the blob. even if one flank is destroyed, the tanks wont turn in time to respond to the other.
