This past week it seems like just about every ninja in the game has learned how to slash and grapple at the same after a dash. So, question: is this a glitch where they are allowed to somehow slash and grapple at the same time or is it just poor lag compensation where, by the time I've been dashed & slashed in my game, they've already started the grapple in theirs (hence making it impossible to counter once the attack is started in my game). My assault is really annoyed at how front grabs have turned into one hit kills because of this so I need to know where to place blame because it's clearly not my fault. >_> Seriously though, fix the lag compensation on the ninja grapple. I'm sick of getting grabbed from ten feet away and/or back stabbed during a charge.
Do you mean lunging and then immediately doing a grapple? You could always do that. Was that supposed to be fixed in the DLC (I stopped playing assassin post-DLC)?
I can't say anything for any other Assassin player, but that was one of the things I made sure I mastered way back when I first started. It is an extremely useful tactic with the Assassin, and is in no way a glitch.
It's pretty much the only way an Assassin can realistically get a Tank, and sometimes not even then. I've always thought of it like a cancel combo of fighters, cancelling the first move's recovery to go straight into the next one.
Ok, but is there a lag correction issue here? Because I'm not just talking about a dash to grapple, I'm talking dash to slash + grapple at the same time. To me, it seem like there should be a way to counter this if she's slashing after the dash and before a grapple but I can never get out of it and I think that's because by the time I receive the slash in my game, she's grappling me in hers.
Pothocket, maybe you should just not be in a position to get dashed in the first place. But in all seriousness, this is certainly fair for an assassin to be able to aim a dash, get the damage from slash, and then be able to grapple before you can counter. It is not easy to dash and hit and grapple, because most good pros are circling around. Good assassin players line up the dash, uncloak, and hit it with a grapple for the kill. I rarely play assassin, but when i do this is what I do. Just my 2 cents worth.
I always expect it.. easy to dodge (unlike the tank or assaults charge), and if they miss they're open for a round of pellets in the face.
lol you think that combo is nasty... come play me and learn how to get front dashed..yet back grappled all in the flash of an eye.
Correct me if I'm mistaken but I believe the counter to lunge + face stab is either gold armor or jumping. I mean, as an assassin player, even I'm amazed I sometimes get kills with it. I assume my targets are wearing gold armor all the time and just do it to run away and piss them off.
This is certainly NOT fair. What you are saying is that assassins should be given free actions immediately following a dash. That is absolutely not the case. No class should be given an extra free action after a dash before a grapple. Image an assault being about to attach a bomb to an opponent at the end of a charge. I do believe this combo is done by skill and it is a frustrating move to opposing players.
Your problem here is you are not comparing apples to apples. A charge to a bomb is using two of your skills right after another which takes time, but a dash and a grapple are two special moves right after another. Honestly if anyone complains about this you are just not a good player. Assassins have so many weaknesses, even more after the patch, and should not be crippled anymore. Give them one good combo every class has one. Tanks/Gunners have shooting plus deploy, snipers have traps plus flak/headshot, supports have turrets plus hack, Assaults have Flying plus everything, and Assassins have dash plus grapple.
This is flawed logic, you're claiming that chaining two abilities (and to be fair, you're stretching it with some of those) is an entitlement to all classes. The argument here is about balance and intended use of game mechanics. If a sniper can't headshot kill a tank with silver armor, an assassin shouldn't be able to "global" the same tank.
BS. I've been grappled mid-lunge tons of times. Funniest was me trying to face-grapple a weak Support. Fecker shotgun grappled me mid-lunge and destroyed me It's all down to your connection and timing, but it's certainly possible to counter it
Let's not forget the Tank's spin attack + charge. Even full health, gold armor assassins die from that I think. So if you're so worried about the issue, you could always play tank with a vengeance.
oh, dont let my avitar and signature fool you, i play assault and support and everything except sniper more than assassin. the assassin kinda needs this combo. adding a delay means you should have a longer delay between throwing a bomb and detonating, or a tank between charge and spin, or a support between grapple and shotgun. she can kill most pros without them being able to fight back if undetected, thats intentional. she cant kill multiple pros,, has low armor, she has very strict limits and isnt broken at all. nothing personal, but it is your fault  play tank? learn to jump the very instant you can and hover while facing an assassin?
