I have a idea game idea of which I want your opinion on I am open to critique and if this was already added into the game please forgive me for I do not own the game I have just watched a lot of Gameplay. Also if I am in the wrong posting area or if I could be redirected to speak with someone through Skype I would find it EXTREMELY easy to explain it. I have thought about how in RTS games in most cases if you hold left shift while giving actions it allows you to set multiple "jobs" or buildings they must create instead of clicking the building tab the building you want then placing and repeat. Involving that sort of left shift feature I thought that if for units there was one for patrolling them for example but instead of just straight lines when you left click (whilst holding left shift of course) instead of just clicking you hold and if you drag your mouse to the left it causes the travel line for the unit to arc and inverted arc if you drag to the right! I thought about this hard and I would very much appreciate it to here some feedback because I think this is a wonderful idea to add to the game.

Exemplary uses: You have a scout plane(perhaps multiple) and you want them to patrol around the enemies base to see when they send men to attack you or expand etc. instead of having clunky lines were there travel paths have edges making it not as effective but with this you could have a perfect smooth path going around your opponents base, if your enemies base is circular then you could have it circle around them! :D

So please if I am posting this in the wrong area forgive me and may I be redirected!~ :)

If you do not understand my idea then maybe you could contact me and we could have a conversation as I describe it and show some pictures which I am drawing up now!

Once again sorry if my presentation of this is wrong its more of a ummm..... something for added feature into the game to help with defense so your men don't go to far out away from your base leaving more of a opening and this is my 3rd time ever posting anything ever XD, so sorry if you don't like it I just think it would be a neat thing to have in the game! :D

This really just adds so little compared to just adding "in-betweens" for patrols. Units already have momentum and naturally curve between points.

Sorry, but it sounds pointless to me.

If you want to post a suggestion, you will probably get a better response by being a little more humble and more self-critical. Don't start off by proclaiming how "brilliant" your idea is, and that everybody should read your thread and not critique it.

Remember, If you can think it up, so can someone else. And that person has probably been on these forums longer than you have.

Thank you I will take your words to heart, forgive me I myself feel naive after rereading my post although I re-read it multiple times before posting, I will make sure to not be so "I am a genius" XD Thank-you for the replies, and I also was just thinking of this as a added feature just a little something not something that Uber can boast about to other games. :)

This sounds like more of an aesthetic opinion rather than a gameplay feature. If the OP feels like modding it in I'm sure it would be possible.

Or maybe once when we are able to reach into space, this sort of method can be used for satellites to spy on enemy bases.

I can see what you're saying. Honestly I like the idea, at the very least it would be a nice way to reduce how many times you need to click for movement positions if not for looks.

I move units a ton, setting routes and I rarely want them to travel in a straight line. So much clicking just to make them go in a curve. Wastes time!

So I for one like your idea.

I like the idea of drawing one's patrol routes.

I also like the idea of drawing out unit formations.

Both of these should be included in the game.

Yes thank-you both of you, I appreciate your feedback!

That's what I was trying to say but could not explain it properly, thank you for the reply! :D

Your idea is good, but did you realize that this feature is almost already integrated to the game ?

If you want to have unit following a specific non-linear path, keep SHIFT key pressed, then define waypoints with mouse right click. The "drawing a spline" system doesn't bring advantage to the existing system.
