A lot of us know that Blitz mode is about stamina after round 60, and having a solid repeatable plan for each wave type.

It also helps to have a plan about which turret types you want where, and which are to remain hacked.

That said, a buddy and I just set a new high score for sudden death blitz - we got to round 3650 or so (I'm at work and forget the exact number, the real number is close) - 50% higher than the next guy down.

It took 13.5 hours, and the rounds came in at a pace of 4.48 rounds per minute. We had 1 false start.

We decided months ago we were going to take a crack at it over Christmas break, and the record had been beaten in that span, but we figured we'd give it a shot anyway.

We had 1 alternate player who helped us while we needed to rush to the bathroom. Lucky for us, he played nearly identical to our playing styles, so we didn't feel like he was ruining anything for us.

We lasted with 1% or so on the moneyball for about 1000 rounds - then for a while at like .5%. We thought we "had only one mistake left" for a really long time! At some point, we realized we realized we didn't need the annihilator. Then at another point, we realized we didn't *really* need the juice, either. "The annihilator is a myth" and "Juice is a myth" became catch phrases. But we didn't spare juice since the goal wasn't to cut it close or make it more challenging, it was to see how far we could get.

We lost 0 turrets. Which makes sense, really, because by the time you lose turrets, you're toast anyway.

By the end, we were bleary eyed - and my brain stopped working. We didn't suicide at the end we waited til we messed up (due to fatigue, or whatever).

As time went on I worried that my xbox would freeze, crash, red ring, or inexplicably lose connection at the end, and that the results wouldn't be uploaded.

For what it's worth, there's a bug I don't really know how to explain, even after all that gameplay. Sometimes the MB takes some damage with no explanation. Nothing got through, and yet the MB falls and takes a few percent. My fuzzy memory is that it happened a while after the last XL fell and there was no clear and present danger. Like it shot something invisible that made it thru after some time. After a while, we stopped giving it the benefit of the doubt and figured it was a glitch we couldn't pinpoint.

    Turrets and Gremlins
The lazer blazers can do some damage to them - but the rockit turrets do zero (or close to zero) damage to gremlins. We commented a lot about how the gremlins were immortal to the rockets. I think when they're visible, or especially if they're effected by shaveice, the rockets should dominate them. We didn't use lazer blazers, and so we dispatched of gremlins by hand.

And for money, yeah - I stopped paying attention to my bankroll after it said half a million. We had plenty to buy juice and still have ever increasing amounts. At the end, my cohort had 10k or so higher in earnings, which is why we think he was given the #1 spot and me #2. I think it was $1.2M or so each.

Another point of amusement came at the end when I checked my "rank". I was ranked 94 in one of the prestige categories (slimbot i think) and with that money was bumped up to level 24 of the next prestige.

Haha :) We joked about how the next guys are going to have to play in shifts, or play on the toilets with a stocked fridge next to them.

I was the other half here, and I wanted to add a few notes.

First that I screwed up near the beginning of our run placing a shaveice turret behind the money ball. That turret should have been a rocket turret. I think there were several times when a single BlackJack got through just because of that.

There was another (rather large) bug that we noticed many times throughout the session. When we would hack a turret sometimes that hack would disappear from the turret, but the hack skill was still consumed.

It was a lot of fun, but I'm not sure I'd want to do it again.

Playing solo is really easy so you can just pause the game, no need to mess one's drawers.

JackTrips has a pee bucket next to his Xbox. True story.

We actually tried to do a split screen session. However, after a quick test, we found that our scores didn't seem to update. So we opted for an XBox Live game in the same room.

Oh yeah - another fun stat. I consumed near (maybe more than) 500 churros. So, I got the churro protags out of the way.

Compared to maybe 8 bacons the whole time (given to the tank first, then to the support if the tank had bacon).

I must say that so many churros in, the end of the above quote: "That's what I say..." is delivered in such a way that it becomes funnier and funnier (and lack of sleep helps). He's so depressed at that moment. We couldn't figure out why.

Good job! I would like to see your turret setup for for 2 players. I saw you guys reach this right before I was gunna go for the other high score by myself.

I wish I knew another person to play this long coop. Lucky you two were in the same room on the same internet.. That would never work that long for two different people LOL..

I got to 2838 by myself which was ridiculous. And I understand the weird wtf why did the ball go down feeling. Usually it is because some bot actually gets through for some unknown reason which makes no sense, or a jackbot gets a lucky shot at someone and misses them and hits the ball.

Great Job guys! I remember when me and satanic carnage before the patch got the #1 spot at 2005. We did a funny bathroom setup to pee.. like he could go whenever as a support between hacks. I went when we had the annihilator up so he could use it just in case.

    Always good endurance!

Nice. Pity you didn't call the Guinness world record people so they could send in someone to witness.

Seriously tho... definitely a record that will stand for a very long time.

I was the stand in for breaks and was the food runner. At one point I fell asleep for a couple hours....I think.

For all those thinking about trying this, I advise you have a plan and stick to it. If you don't have a stand in, hook up you xbox/PC in the bathroom next to a mini fridge stock with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

All jokes aside. Good luck and have fun

Hey Alpha. Good to see you on here.

We truly could not have done it without you!

For those curious about turret placement in our two player run, I whipped up this map with markers for all of the turrets.

(Hosted on my own web space.)

H is for the turrets we kept hacked. I couldn't find a Firebase icon, so it's marked at the top. (It was only there for Gap Shots anyway.) Oh, also, that Longshot in the bottom right corner was useless. I just tried it because I knew a Rockit turret wouldn't hit anything from there.

As I mentioned before, the turret behind the money ball should have been a Rockit turret, and not a Shaveice.

I thought I may as well list the different wave types, and our strategy for each.

    From easy to hard:

Slimbots. Three Slimbots come from the two front gates and the two side gates. This is basically a free round. Time for some refreshing bacon!

Scramblers. Two Scramblers from the top two and side two entrances. This is also basically a free round, but the Support should be careful not to get too close, otherwise the hacking rotation will be disrupted.

Bouncers. One Bouncer from each of the top two gates. Get on the other side of the middle Shaveice, and these can be safely ignored.

Slimbot/BlackJack. One Slimbot and two BlackJacks come from the four active gates. You're Rockit turrets shouldn't have any trouble taking out these waves. Also known as the "combo."

Gapshot/Buzzers. One Gapshot and two sets of Buzzers come from the front. The Gapshot can be ignored, as long as you have a Firebase at the front, (which you should.) The Buzzers can be pretty deadly, though. If you can draw them under the front bridge your Rockit turrets should handle them nicely.

Gremlins. A set of Gremlins come from the four active gates. The tank would usually round these up and just Death Blossom a couple of times. The other option is to get them with an ejector.

Black Jacks. Three Black Jacks from each active gate. It is possible for a bot or two to get through if you're not actively dealing some damage on this round. I should also note that at first I was only watching the side gates, letting the Rockit turrets take care of the front. This would prove problematic for Jackbot rounds, because three Black Jacks also come out during that round. We eventually changed it so that I watched the front, and let the turrets take care of the inner bots. This let the Tank be immediately ready to take on a Jackbot round. Speaking of which...

Jackbot. Two Jackbots from up front, and three Black Jacks from the two side entrances. This is the big panic round. The Tank should stay in between the two Jackbots, and Death Blossom them both to death. This is a lot faster and safer to do if you're juiced up, but isn't absolutely required. The worst thing that can happen is getting knocked off the map by a Jackbot. If that happens, the Support either has to stall the Jackbots by jumping in front of them until the Tank spawn again, or hit the Annihilator. If the Jackbots get too close to the money ball (about under the bridge or so) it's very possible that your turrets will focus only on the Jackbots, letting the Black Jacks from the side have their way with your Moneyball.

So, to sum up, the Tanks job was to keep juiced up (which I forgot every now and then, and I'm sure cost us several hits on the Moneyball) and to take out the Jackbots. He should also be spamming Product Grenades at any bots running around. (The stun was invaluable.) Never be complacent! Keep killing bots and spamming grenades! Even a group of Slimbots is worth a Product grenade.

The Support's main job is just to keep his four turrets hacked, and help with bot control during down time. If the tank dies during a Jackbot round, the Support must either kill them with an Annihilator, or stall them until the Tank gets back.

I'm sort of looking forward to someone surpassing us and telling their story as well.

If you have any other questions, let me know!
