So I'm probably going to get some hate for this, but I am getting about 1 frame every 10-15 seconds. I keep seeing everybody saying to update your drivers, but I'm very technically challenged and I have no clue what that even means. So I guess what I'm asking is how do I update my drivers?

    Uhh...

Right click on your desktop, and look for Nvidia control panel.

If you can't find it, I have no idea how to help you because ATI cards suck.

If you found it, then go here: http://www.geforce.com/drivers

And click on auto-detect GPU, and follow the instructions. You should be able to download the latest driver.

Also, search for DxDiag in the start menu and upload the text file it generates to here. That helps.

No clue what Nvidia means but I will look. I keep trying to upload it but it says the file is empty. Today is not my computer's day apparently.

There is my DxDiag thing. It wouldn't let me post it as a file. I also gotta go to work soon so I may stop responding, but if you have any other ideas, they would be appreciated.

For AMD cards you do just the same thing, download the driver and install it. ;)

    @Topic:
I am horrible at reading dxdiag files, but you seem to have some rather weak CPU with some Intel chipset, that is declared (in some test I googeled) to have bad performance in OpenGL games, so even Doom3 may not run fluently. PA is OpenGL and a pretty unoptimized alpha that eats GPU power. I guess your notebook is just too slow for PA in it's current form. I would not be surprised if it will even be too slow for the release version of PA.

Well from the looks of the DxDiag, you only have onboard Intel HD Graphics, and I'm afraid thats not going to cut it on playing the PA Alpha. Without knowing more about the specific HP Pavilion G7 Notebook you got (to confirm that it only has a Intel HD Graphics) there is not much more I think we can do. During Alpha and Beta this is most likely not going to be enough to play the game. At retail status this might change depending on how much optimization Uber manages to implement. It will still only be something like 1vs1 or 2vs2 at the most, before you start experiencing the exact same insane crazy lag as you are now. (If not instantly when the game starts, definitely when the game has been going on for an hour, and there are hundreds if not thousands of units moving across the screen)

First can you please edit your post and upload DxDiag.txt as attachment?

Also can you check what exactly notabook model do you have? Does it have discrete AMD/Nvidia GPU?
Cola_Colin all you need to know about Intel iGPU, but probably you have other GPU too.

Actually 1st generation of Intel HD is bad for any games at all, no mater it's D3D or OGL.
2nd and 3rd generation have performance like 3-5 years old middle-end discrete GPU, so it's "better".

Yeah, your drivers won't help. a P6300's IGP is pretty terrible, and that cpu is no treat either.

You're going to have to upgrade your computer to get any decent performance out of PA I'm afraid, even after optimization.

Well thanks for the help. I was afraid this would happen. I do have access to a better computer and I'm trying it right now, but what do you think about it working for retail? Also I did try to upload it as a .txt but it continuely said that the file was empty even after I made multiples. Thank you for the help though everybody.

Official minimum requirements for integrated cards is Intel HD 4000 (current generation), and it's probably 5 or more times faster than iGPU you have, so there isn't much chances you will ever get playable performance. In general any iGPU and mobile laptops is bad for gaming.

Oh, forum glitches, seen them before. Believe we will get new forums soon.

Okay good to know. My desktop is working fine. Any good laptops that could play it without me spending a bunch of money on one that you would recommend? I'm wondering cause I might be moving away for college in the near future and the desktop isn't coming with me.

Most ~$800-$1200 laptops would cut it, but you'll need a cooling pad. And you may not be able to play on that laptop until beta, due to optimization issues.

It's should i5/i7 CPU with 4 cores (8 threads), at least 8GB of RAM and discrete Nvidia or AMD videocard with at least 2GB of GDDR5.

But you need to understand that all mobile videocards are bad, so check reviews and comparsions. E.g nice chart here:
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gam ... 107-7.html
So there is not always reason to buy overpriced model when it's only give +3% to performance.

I think you can find laptop with suitable performance, but it will be from really bad manufacturer, so you need cooling pads and other addons for bad laptops. Probably it will overheat even with additional cooling.

I got the same message, thus the link to pastebin. Dunno why it would not accept the upload.

Looks like we're running out of disc space. Just got this message trying to look at the members page:

SQLSTATE: 42000 code: 1105 message: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.SORT temporary run storage: 140806744375296' in database 'tempdb' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup. [1105]

That explains matters. I was trying to upload the files for the latest version of my mod last week, and couldn't do it. I ended up having to resort to drop-box, although that's only really a solution while the number of people downloading remains small.

I understand we will be migrating to new fora in the not-to-distant future. Hopefully these issues will be solved then.
