Have you accidentally blown up your own commander?

I've seen some people accidentally kill there commander by pressing the delete button. An idea to fix this is when you accidentally press delete on your commander, the game will ask you (Are you sure you want to kill your commander? Yes OR No?). This might help some people that have softer keys.

Sounds like you need to find a keyboard with a stronger constitution.


More serious answer is it probably needs some kind of confirmation or a modifier key combination to reduce accidental presses.

I hardly, if ever, press my delete key. Or in this case is delete key also the same as backspace?

Never accidentally. For fun sometimes vs the ai, but i mostly stay away from delete, and chronocam, as a general rule. This might change now with the possibility of needing to erase mexes for advanced ones, but i don't expect it to right away.

A good idea supcom2 had was the countdown was actually displayed on the screen above the unit.

That was in Forged Alliance too, if I remember correctly. Unsure about Supreme Commander - I'd imagine it was there, but it could be a Forged Alliance feature.

5 second visible countdown, if you press delete again it cancels itself.

I have done it on accident only once and that was by freak accident it was hilarious. I would like some kind of countdown and someway to cancel it.

Yeah ta has the 5 second countdown/cancel. a 3 second countdown for mexes was added to a mod which I thought was a nice touch.

I may have missed something, but why would you want to delete mexes to upgrade it ?
Isn't building a T2 over a T1 the best option ?

Make the self destruct key more complex such as ctrl + alt + delete.
