With the game being alpha perhaps we should share tips so we can have better matches. I find in a single player game the best build currently is 3 Metal Extractors and then a power generator before building my first factory. I prefer vehicle because I can keep a track of the fabbers better. I then build a power generator immediately afterwards. My first fabber goes to metal whilst my commander builds power generators. My second fabber goes to build another factory and another etc My third fabber starts to give me intelligence by building radar. I'm putting this up because whilst we have gentlemen's rules perhaps we should share information on how best to play this game I think with every current new build we should have a point to share info to help us all play better. Like at the moment the ant is the best t1 unit. It shoots air and underwater you can mass produce them. Please feel free to share tips and tricks.
I would usually not build much T1 radar, and if any i build an air factory after the first two vehicle factories and send an air fabber to build T1 radar on the plateaus. Meanwhile i keep building economy with my vehicle fabbers and not take much till a jump for T2 vehicle, starting by building fabbers to boost the eco even more
I build 1 metal, 1 energy, 2 metal, 2 energy, 2 metal, factory, factory, double pump fabbers. Commander builds 5 energy and then 5 metal after the factories. At that point I judge which resource I need more of and balance appropriately. All fabbers build nonstop resources. Also, I stop fabber production at 5 and wait a minute to let resource buildings accumulate and then resume until I think it's necessary to get spinners for air protection, which is usually at 30 fabbers. On small planets, like moons, I build a ring of t1 radar around my base fairly early, before T2 factory. I don't build any t1 tanks. I build t2 factory pretty early, at around 15-20 fabbers. I build 5 t2 tanks followed by 5 t2 fabbers and build more t2 factories. After t2 tanks I typically build t1 or t2 radar in a band across the planet. I find that it's a waste of time to build scouts or air for scouting because even if you find an enemy early on, it's too early for you to do anything to them. Additionally, there is no need to scout early because nothing anyone can do can be threatening within the first 5 minutes of the game except for commander kamikaze's which is a horrible design flaw that should be remedied once close spawns are fixed.
I usually start with 1 energy, then 3 metal. The reason for this is that the energy will then power my production of metal to the extent that it doesn't get horribly stalled after the energy resources are depleted. I'd have to check these other builds in terms of how fast they can be done, but I think that 1 energy 3 metal is the fastest. I used to go vehicle factory, but I'm starting to go towards early bot factory. I heard that t1 bot fabricators are the most efficient. With the bot factory, I build 5 fabrication bots, which I then use to expand my economy while my commander spams economy as well. Then every time I get about 50 metal surplus I build another vehicle factory. After 3 vehicle factories (pretty quick) I go to teir 2, go with fabricators, stall my economy as my entire engineer force builds some teir 2 economy, and then I'm golden. I just then spam vehicle fabricators (t1 and t2) and maybe some air units as well, and scout and radar the whole planet.
