Hi, Motivation: When you have a continuous economy (not based on buy with fixed credits), you also end needing ways of automating the transformation of resources to units without getting lost into your economy management. Also, if you are fighting on the front and managing things over there, the switching back all the time to ensure the logistics to the conflict front keep flowing is a pain. You usally only need a certain flow of certain types of units, to make that possible this features... Feature: - Be able to add in batches of 10 or 20 units with some key combination and click. (Noticed intuitively you have already a 5 unit way of adding in place but somehow missed this one. At least something bigger than 5 since 5 still makes the mouse burn ) - Be able to add in batches of 100 units with some key combination and click. (Not really necessary if you decide to implement the next ones, since 100 units per click is already a point of; "just build this stuff... don't really care how many") - A way to just tell the queue; "build this indefinitely". - And to make things truly Uber... a way of selecting units into the queue and have a "repeat" switch to build them in the order you entered them into the build queue, repeating the combination over and over again. Great work and many thanks guys, you are truly reviving some awesome games soul here, ~Shosa
Those are all features that are very likely to be implemented in the future. In the last lifestream mavor stated that the UI development is more not done than done. So expect great changes and improvements
Great to hear . But still, perhaps its not that wrong to voice trivial things like these at this point in the development? After all its alpha, right?
They think its possible for everyone to read all of the forums so you dont repeat anything. Of course this would make you very sad.
what about decreasing the numbers in the queue, will it be done the same way? or is it one by one x-- all the time? one more thing. currently you can not cancel the last build order. will this be done in the future and will it refund the M/E back?i hope so
Really we just need a repeat factory option so a factory can be set to either build 5 tanks or 1 tank forever. That way you can define the unit ratio of your army more easily. Example: Factory set to repeat with 5 tanks and 2 spinners. This will continually repeat building 5 tanks and then 2 spinners. Then we won't have to spam 100+ of any unit so we don't have to worry about the factory queue running out. I expect this feature later though when less features are missing.
You're all describing Supreme Commander's build queue. If this feature doesn't make it in then it's likely due to the apocalypse.
Click on unit icons with the factory selected: left click = +1 shift left click = +5 these are added to the end of any existing queue right click = -1 shift right click = -5 these are removed from the last orders for that unit type, until no order exists for that unit type Removing the last unit in the queue stops construction completely for that factory. So, if you were to select a vehicle factory, and click on the tank and the AA vehicle one after the other, the factory would start building the tank, and have an AA vehicle queued up. You can right-click the AA vehicle to remove it, or right-click the tank to stop building the tank, and start building the AA vehicle (next item in the build queue). So far in alpha factories are already behaving like that, and I've had no issue adjusting from TA/SupCom order mechanics, as PA does things basically the same way. A lack of a repeat button can be an annoyance, but nothing too big (just spam shift-click a load and leave to build). Expect build queue and factory order mechanics to be something that gets a lot of attention during alpha; while the basics will probably stay very similar to the above, I'm expecting the implementation to get played with quite a bit as Uber experiment with different options
