I'll keep it short and sweet: What do you guys think of Planetary Annihilation's community so far? I can say that almost every single person I've met in PA has been incredibly nice, supportive of new players, open to conversation, and all around awesome.
Yeah I have to admit, I've played a ton of online games and I don't often run into anyone unfriendly! Much nicer than most online communities!
There's plenty of nice people around. Then again, everyone you're playing against has handed over at least $90 so you're only likely to meet people who are highly enthusiastic about the game at the moment!
People in this community are awesome. There is a lot of useful information that people have even taken the time to organize for you. The forms are well policed which helps to set the tone of discussion. Yup, I'm going to miss these days. The inevitable tsunami is coming.
right. this may be the best community the Internet has ever seen. But it's also still early into its Honeymoon phase.
Much like I can't wait for the "X Balance Mod is OP" and "Y Balance Mod is complete crap" threads to start as well....
Personally, I think balance mods could end up fracturing and splintering what could be one large unified pool of online gamers for PA (much like the large unified pool of online gamers that Starcraft enjoys). Just my opinion.
What do you consider a community? The community on this webpage alone? The community that consists out of all those that have bought the alpha? The community that consists out of all those interested in PA. I'd say that the community on this webpage is quite alright, even though we've got a few die hard fans of the game here that would crack down on negativity the same way trolls crack down on positivity. It generally is a place with nice people and constructive discussions The community ingame is generally helpful, though like any online game it can still get messy sometimes. But if you're going to look at the community of people who like PA, now that's a different story. Especially the steam forums are far less positive about the game. Even though the developers are quick to respond to buyers running into issues, the angry mob seems to be ignored completely. They are only angry because they do want to play the game.
generally, the active community is who people are referring to when they say "community"...whether they contribute via mods, videos, or discussion.
I think that's the problem, they are under the idea that the Alpha is for playing, when really it's not but they can't connect that fact with the point behind the pricing model. But I've had enough threads about steam to last me a lifetime. Mike
