    Hi Guys,

It would be epic if some moons would always face its planet with the same side (like our own moon). By creating such a moon there would be a dark side of the moon where you could build a secret moon base (like the Nazi's did in this movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He_PWsJqsVY).

Really curious if this could be in the game and what you guys think of it :D.

    Regards,

    Teun

Tidally locked moons should totally be possible, maybe even common.

Non-locked moons should still be possible, as they do exist IRL and also present interesting gameplay situations.

The creativity behind this idea is immense. I like the idea because it would mean defending yet another spot to prevent an unwanted surprise. Congrats on your imaginative break through. :D

Well, not sure if this would be a real secret base trough.

Seriously, who would NOT create a base on the Dark side of the Moon ?

Well, if you're expecting the bases to be built on the dark side of the Moon, then I know who wouldn't build one there...

If a moon was formed along with it's parent planet, it will be tidally locked almost 100% of the time. The only times you see moons not tide locked is when they formed as planetesimals or asteroids/comets and were captured by the planet's gravity, and even then they sometimes become tide-locked. The longer a moon spends orbiting it's planet, the more likely it is to be locked, in fact, the tidal forces also effect the planet (to a lesser extent) and if you wait long enough, the planet will become tide locked to the moon. Although this last case probably won't ever happen before something else happens to the planet.
