It just pops up with the windows message. PA.exe has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Can we get two more files from you, the log file (if one exists) and the dmp file. The log file(s) should be here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log Just send us the most recent one. The .dmp file(s) should be here: %TEMP% It'll be a "Crash Dump File" named as a long string of random characters. Again, the most recent one will suffice. Since our forum doesn't allow for .dmp files to be uploaded, you can rename it as a .txt file or put it in a .zip file to upload.
I'm getting the same issue. Installed fine on my laptop, but my internet connection was too weak, and single player is grayed out, not available yet I suppose. Tried on my desktop when I got home, crashed every time I try to load the program. I did get log files, they all say "This looks like this isn't the Steam Distribution" I was trying to avoid linking this game to Steam, since I don't particularly care for their service, but maybe converting the key will be required... steam_api is in the installation... Anywho, 5 logs and 5 dumps, zipped and uploaded. Also, I thought this was a 64-bit only program right now, why is it installed in the x86 program files folder? EDIT: added the dxdiag if that helps.
Lovely... So my laptop that I don't game much on works fine, but my desktop that I do all my gaming on has a dependent card crashing it... Do you think this is something that will clear up later, or will it be permanent?
Ya but thats like 32 bit oses. support for technology that's dead as disco is only going to happen because so many people are stuck with it. So you will probably wont see support untill late alpha or early beta.
Did you find the .dmp files? There's nothing obvious in the log or dxdiag, so we need a dmp file for the best chance of diagnosing the issue. The game is 64 bit for the moment, the installer and launcher are 32 bit. Also, your particular problem is two issues. One your graphics drivers are ancient, try getting the latest drivers from AMD.com and the other issue is I don't know how well the game will run on a Radeon HD 3xxx series. The game currently only runs on discrete graphics, it does not run on most Intel integrated graphics, though some seem to be able to run on the Intel HD 4000 (slowly). We do plan on improving support for the low end, but it'll be a while before that's our main focus.
I can run the game on a Dell E6530 (w/ 8gb 1600Mhz RAM and 256gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD) with Intel HD 4000 at decent FPS at the start of the game if I'm zoomed all the way in and just looking at the immediate ground. Pretty much any zooming out kills it though.
Patience Danjiro, A Dev has already responded and knows of the general issue, when they have something to report, they'll let it be known. Bumping a thread at this rate is just frustrating for the Devs more than anything. Mike
