PA won't update on steam

I download PA last week, and tried to play today. When I start PA from Steam, it says that the current client is 49900 and to update. How the hell do you update? Why doesn't Steam keep the client up-to-date?

64-bit Win7 here. What should I do?

49900 is up to date there is no update needed yet

It says the current client is 49900 and I need to update to it. How do I update to 49900? I am obviously not on 49900 if it is telling me to update TO 49900.

Specifically, the dialog says:

"New Build Available: 49900
A new version of the client is available on UberNet. Please exit the game and patch. No new games are allowed in this version of the client."

Ugh huh... And I patch the Steam version how?

The version I have from Steam is 49789.

Try to reinstall

I don't think they updated the Steam version.

I found https://store.uberent.com/download/pasetup.exe looking around the store/account thingy. I guess the Steam version is just screwed, I'll use their installer.

Try validating local cache, or restart steam.

There is definitely something wrong with your client as I've been using the steam client for several days now and haven't had a problem with updating.

Also it might be worth while to check that you do have set Steam to automatically update the game (right click the game in the games tab and look under 'updates')
