I've got the Steam Version of PA. Installing was fine, but i can't connect to UberNet when i start the game. "Connecting to UberNet" is displayed all the time. I use Windows 7-64 bit with latest Updates. I don't use the Windows Firewall or other software like this. I don't use any Anti-Virus software, cause i use Windows just for gaming - for all real work i use Linux and Mac OS X. I use the AVM FRITZ!Box 7390 Router. My gaming PC use DMZ, UPnP and additional i forward the TCP Ports 9000-9032 and 80. For gaming i use the "Bigfoot Networks Killer Xeno Pro Gaming Card" and try the default setup. I also try to connect with the cnboard card, but it also does not work. Is this a known problem? Can someone give me a hand!? What could I even try?
The connection to UberNet is via HTTPS to uberent.com. Try loading https://uberent.com/user/login in a browser on the same machine. Does it load? Are there any certificate errors?
This page is loading without any errors. I can login there without any problems. Is it crucial what browser is in use? Is PA using a Browser API ore something else?
What is the error in Chrome (screenshot might help)? You shouldn't have to manually add the certificate, because it has been signed by a CA (GoDaddy) and is properly installed on the servers, along with all the intermediate certificates in the chain. More info here: https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html#hostname=uberent.com Are you going through an HTTP proxy, either running locally on your machine or on your router or ISP? Are you on a home network or on a network managed by a campus, IT department etc?
One thing to check is if you have any Windows updates waiting (probably a "recommended" update) containing updated root certificates.
I totally sure Google Chrome use own certificates. At least Firefox only use it's own root certificates.
Can you click on crossed lock left of "http://", then click "Connection" and "Certificate Information". And then compare "SHA-256 Fingerprint" filed with this one: Code: F8 66 37 83 22 E7 6C A0 E9 74 3E BE CB 79 DC 9E 93 30 48 9B 5B 10 81 B2 2E D8 97 48 F1 3F B7 BD If it's same that mean there is SSL certificate problem, but if it's different that mean something weird happen here.
I didn't know FF used its own root certs. That's good to know. I checked into it for Chrome and: http://www.chromium.org/Home/chromium-security/root-ca-policy
A couple more random suggestions: Check for updates in Chrome and install any available updates. Make sure that Windows has the correct date and time configured. If these don't help, please send a list of all currently running applications and services on your machine. In your screen capture I see several things running in the task tray that I don't recognize. I know you said that you aren't running any AV software, but it is possible that something else is interfering.
I just want to record a screencast. Have shown my system and then started the current version of PA. What can I say? It runs! There was nothing changed on my system, any changes to network settings and such. Nevertheless thanks for the tips and quick reactions.
I am getting SSL cert errors in the client trying to connect, but I can log in via the webpage without any issues. Can't seem to find anything out of sorts from a networking perspective. Any thoughts?
