It would be really nice if some arrows indicating the front of a structure, like a turret or naval base, could be added, It's currently hard to tell which way something is facing without zooming in, and I've ended up with quite a few beached ships due to a backwards naval factory.
If you build the Naval Fac such that both ends are blocked by land, you might need to re-evaluate where you place your Naval facs. Mike
I build one end facing land, ships come out that end. Tried redirecting it, they still come out that end, into land.
You mean the Units didn't orient towards the Rally point? I seem to recall the other Factories doing that.
Factories aren't yet smart about choosing a default rally point, they're perfectly happy putting it in water or on land or off a cliff. If you give the a new rally point they will build and exit in that direction, but if something is already being built it can't turn around.
They may orient to it (not sure), but their path seems fixed to going forward, rather than backwards out of the factory. Didn't seem to simply turn around while staying fixed in one place. Maybe it's just a pathing issue. I'll try again later.
Well, if the factory had an indicator arrow that told you which direction it'd launch, that would aid in placing naval factories. Or, perhaps, have the game orient them parallel to the shore? I can't tell how to control orientation of the factory, so perhaps the game should default to one that's not useless.
When placing any structure, before releasing the mouse button, you can move the mouse around and the structure will rotate on the spot. Mike
Once a unit is built, it cannot turn around to go out the other direction, this is correct. The issues is in the case where they drive off on a side they can't go anywhere from they should not have been built going that direction to begin with. Or if you build a structure after you've started the factory working blocking that exit ... don't do that.
OK, figured out how to rotate factories. Awesome. How do I determine which direction stuff comes out the factory? They look symmetrical. How do I command the factory to build stuff in the other direction, once my battleship has been launched onto land? Am I being dumb? Is this really not a problem?
Set a rally point just like any factory in any RTs ever, the Factory will select the best orientation in regards to that Rally Point. Mike
This is one thing I would really like to see is either an indicator error of what the default direction is going to be or that the factories are smart enough to exit the other direction if the other side is blocked.
The direction units exit is dependent on the rally point from my understanding, so the Rally is the indication. Mike
It sounds like naval factories should show their initial rally points, and if the default spot is blocked, to default in the other direction.
In general I'd like for all factories to show a more obvious default rally point indicator as its almost impossible to see their rotation from a highly zoomed out level.
