I've noticed this a lot, when I do actually decide to play a serious game and have some fun with the alpha, even in its raw state, I try my best to be fair. I don't stack buildings, I don't build leviathans, or moonbases, I just expand my eco, build an army of T1 and special task forces of T2, and generally steamroll. But it's really funny, it seems people don't know how to loose anymore. I don't see GG, or 'well played' or 'I had fun' or 'Good game' anymore. It's always "******* noobs" or "Bomber fag" or "You suck." I'm not complaining terribly, the Internet is a cruel place, but some modesty would be nice every once and a while. Even silence is better than such vituperous comments.
I've had some very good games with people replying gg with my response to them the same. Although there was one accident where I didn't realised my commander had joined an attack and whilst it messed up my opponent. I did want my opponent to fully take me out of the game but I did get some rage which is understandable because I'd crippled my opponent out of the game and I should have had the decency to stop my attack, but I really wanted to see who would have won as at the time I did have the upperhand. Good manners still exist in the game though
The current state of the alpha does not really provide for any kind of competitive play. Many people just abuse whatever they want and it's their good right. It's alpha after all. Writing GG after playing vs somebody who build 100 t2 mex on top of each other feels just weird.
This thread slightly disappointed me, I though people were asking about what happened to GG Stack, one of the announcers in SMNC xD
Agreed with the above... the state of play is hardly indicative of GG- it is about finding bugs. Winning is hardly a sign of an amazing RTS player right now. Once things like mex patches, and units are balanced, then we can GG everyone everytime!
I posed this question to myself during the first playtests... I settled with saying "good fun!" in the end... :lol: Seems appropriate since that's all we're having for now, while stuff isn't complete or balanced and everyone is - or should be - hunting for bugs and simply playing for fun.
yeah i like using the gl n hf, gg etc. havnt seen others say it back but maybe i never saw. can be a little tricky to see chat bar and i'm sure they be throwing in a sound later on.
If the fabbers float which in some alpha games they do they can build anywhere with unlimited range it's a bug
Well, I didn't have the chance to write GG very often yet - most of the (few) games I played so far ended by either me or my opponents dropping out of the game prematurely
