Hey guys it's me again, i was asking myself, when we pre-order the game we get the delta or theta commander, i took the 90$ early acess so i got the theta commander, in game it seems like we use the delta for now, my question is, when the game will be fully developped, we will able to chose between few commanders of the games before game start and for who bought the game for early acess they will get one or two more commander to choose ?
As a benefit for founder access, can we please have the "punch enemy commander" feature, to allow knocking over the other commander and saying some John Wayne tagline, if we get face to face. It would really make the game more fun. (one punch, enemy command laid out for 2 minutes... friendly commander unable to shoot or fight for the same amount of time, but he can walk away invulnerable to ensure he gets out if he managed to get in and lay one on the jaw of the other guy). I'm just saying - for $200 - I want to punch the other guy in the nose.
It would be cool if each commander had some sort of perk. Say for ex. one could gave +damge to air combat and another + damage to anti land. I understand the would have to account for balancing and this would make development harder. But it would give some kind of attachment to why you liked to pick one commander over another.
I do believe something like that is planned. And while each unique commander has a preset combination of perks, you can customise your commander to have any combination of them. So, for example, the Theta Commander would deal +10% damage and generate 100% more energy, while the Delta Commander has +50% radar range and anti-air weaponry. These boni are all made up. But you can customise your own commander to be exactly the same as the special commanders. I don't know if the special commanders can be customised (with your own perks) or not. I do know that you can't get their models; that's what makes them unique from regular commanders. I'm sorry if this explanation is confusing.
Custom commanders were only available during the Kickstarter at the $1000 pledge level. Each commander will be slightly different but the differences will be small enough that they don't really effect the balance of the game. Basically the "backer" commanders will have abilities that "normal" commanders also have, they will just have unique combinations of those abilities not found on the "normal" commanders. So there would be a normal commander with abilities and A and B, and another normal commander with abilities B and C. But only one of the backer commanders will have abilities A and C.
If anyone is going to have a silly OP commander it will surely be Neutrino. That being said I do rather like the fact that the backer and custom commanders will only differ in appearance. That way I can always use my alpha commander and not have to worry about it be the "wrong" commander for any given map.
I'm gonna clear this up before it runs rampart. First off, if you have access to the Backer's Lounge, Read this thread instead, it's much more indepth. If you've pre-ordered and don't have access you should PM Garat to get that fixed up. Anyways, here is the short version of what we know so far based on talks with Neutrino back when the Delta was the new kid on the block. All abilities will be part of the same pool. Think of it this way, there are 8 Abilities, A-H. Alpha might have A+D Progenitor might have B+G Delta might have D+F My Custom Commander might Have C+E Ability D is the same for Both Alpha and Delta, or any other Commander that uses it. Along with that it meas that over time as we get more and more Commanders, depending on the size of the Ability Pool, some of those commanders will share teh same abilities as other commanders. Whether the differences stop with Abilities, we don't know yet thought it seems likely. Mike
