So im very excited to see a succesor to TA. Escpecially since it has the same economy unlike Supreme commander 2.
Given the new and bigger scale are we goin to see massive space battles around the planets aswell? Like a massive experimental Space ship hammering down on a planet. That would be awesome!

Or maybe air-battle could be played out outside a planets orbit. That would look amazing.

    What is your oppinion?

There wont be true space battles (as in open space 3d space combat), its allredy confirmed to not be included in the release version of the game (it MIGHT appear in a future expansion).

However we may se something simular in the orbital layer (not confirmed but im hopeing).

And there will be artillery and simular between planets, just put some engines on a astroid and move it into orbit around a world and stuff it with artillery and you have a "kinda starship".

    aahhh ok..

too bad. It would have been great to get fights between planets. Imagine two big fleets battling between two planets and the wreckages fall on the planet they are closest too. That would be awesome.

I mean they got the new scale with the planets and all, why not exploit it more. U can do crazy stuff with planets.

I'm sure there will be space battle mods of some sort not too long after release.

Gotta love it when it rains naval units from the moon.

If the orbital physics even somewhat follows real life laws, space battles will end up being even more limited than air in combat, except that they would take no fuel/energy to keep up (if they are above the atmosphere). In space, you can't just go in any direction you want: you will always be in an elliptical (including circular) orbit or on an escape trajectory (para- or hyperbolic). You don't actually move in straight lines in space; gravity is always affecting you.

Relative to another local object in orbit you can move in straight lines. However, relative location and rotation will reverse every half orbit, so if you are trying to do calculations it can get messy. If you are crunching numbers on the spot though, its not too hard to go straight.

A space base or sattelite for orbital strike could be cool tho, no ?
