http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp4aPjmC0uY Download this file and replace the version in /PA/media/shaders. Notes: * Replaces green-on-green with team colors * Wireframe is built bottom-up, filled top-down, and the fab wave is a vertical radial expansion. * Pulsing is now a bit stronger.
Being able to pass generic information to the effects system is one of the features I want to add that currently doesn't exist.
thanks for the answer, I think the structures are designed for green lathes and shaders so it suits them. Aesthetically what we have is probably better, the one nice thing about colored lathes/shaders is that we can quickly tell who controls an uncompleted structure. Although perhaps abandoned uncompleted structures should go to whomever completes the construction - allowing for a soft 'Capture'. Afterall technology has been captured, assimilated, refined and transformed x)
Gotta say you've added a quite nice variation to the lathe building effect. I especially like the expanding ring effect which leads to the completed building.
The ring is part of the standard build I believe, I just noticed it as of 49455, but it may have been there some time before.
The default shader does the expansion of the wireframe and then the contraction to solid similar to this shader, but the final fill is done by a vertical sweep rather than the expanding ring. I believe that's the effect smallcpu was referring to. I used that in an early version of the shader but removed it because it doesn't finish as nicely on all structures; some you can no longer see the ring way before it is actually done building. I still have work I want to do on the default shader though.
Yep, it mostly seems to be because of the data available. Just waiting on more information to be passed =p
