Bit of a necro, but how does one go about clearing the cache.
    Memory > system items?

If it makes you feel any better, Manouso, I managed to mute myself again the other day. And I muted my friend who came over. He's not too happy.

I've got the same problem. Got sick of hearing myself. Can't unmute now. Gonna try the cache clear.

In my very humble opinion I think the next attempt to patch this problem should just open up the option to mute/unmute yourself at will instead of trying to prevent unknown factors during and/or a host migration from allowing a person to mute themselves by accident and being forced to either find a host migration or clear the cache to fix it ;)

It occurs in children and trying to mute the choice of a loud, when someone asked me out of the race, I believe. It also appears in other games like cod: Wau. I have tried unmuting as a host, and other methods, including interference with the hell out of the button, and offered to bake cookies.

I couldn't understand a lot of that, but that last part made me laugh.
FYI Everyone knows the unmute gods like chocolate chip cookies. Any other type would just be a waste of time.

It's as simple as clearing out your cache to un-mute your self.
It's not as hard as people make it out to be.
It's not a common occurrence like blue screen and I personally don't think it needs a patch.

Hey, I'm having a similar problem as of about 2 days ago.
This is what happened, but I meant to view someone's gamercard instead of muting them. I happened to press A instead of Y, pretty common mistake because games like to switch between the two for a similar function. I'm pretty sure it was a person a space or two above me that had left and caused me to mute myself. I should have noted when I did it, but I'm fairly sure I had an option to unmute myself which I tried once or twice, but to no avail.

I tried restarting my Xbox a few times, I haven't checked in other games but I'd assume they're effected too because it says I'm muted in party chat as well. I also recently (as of about 10 or so minutes ago) tried clearing the cache. The progress bar was up for a few seconds and it didn't seem to do much, but it made me update MNC again, so it must have done something.
