I've acquired my alpha key earlier through a key giveaway. I've used it to gain access and play. Days later I received my official key through email. It provided a link to "my game keys" On the right hand side it reads: "After a key is activated, its associated UberNet account will be listed here." The key I activated earlier wasn't listed here. If I give away my 'official' key, will I be giving away my Galactic edition content?
Possibly. I also received a key during a giveaway, but when my key came via the regular distribution I wondered how I was going to swap keys. I could, theoretically, just create a secondary UberNet account and tie the key to that, but that seems to be a messy way of doing it.
Yeah I have a similar problem, I got a giveaway key and activated it on my main account. Then I used my backer key to let a friend try alpha, if possible I would like to switch my giveaway key and backer key.
Currently, the "My Game Keys" page shows only keys that you purchased, not keys you activated that were given to you. We're working on an improved view that will make this clearer. If you've already activated another key, you can give your purchased key to someone else and it won't affect your Galactic Edition content in any way. There's no reason to "switch" your giveaway and backer keys, because they both operate exactly the same - they unlock the game for one account. Think of the Alpha key you purchased as one item out of the bundle of items that make up the Galactic Edition package. Giving that key to someone else doesn't transfer the other items (e.g. Theta Commander, Soundtrack etc.) to them. Hope that clears things up, but let me know if you have any other questions about it.
That is very nice. So that means when the beta starts I will get a new Beta key and the giveaway Alpha key will expire?
What a point for Uber for doing so? As I understand it's all very simple: 1 - Alpha key is for alpha, beta and release. 2 - Beta key for beta and release. 3 - Release key is for release. But these keys it's ONLY keys for game, they doesn't include additional content.
You paid for one copy of game (no mater you pay for alpha, beta or release), so you get only one key which give access to online multiplayer for one Ubernet account. It's simple.
You did not fully understand me. I backed for alpha and got a key for that, but I also got a separate alpha key given to me by Mavor. I have two alpha keys now. So the question now is: is that giveaway key also going to turn into a beta and release key...
sxx, you are correct about how the keys work: Alpha keys unlock the game for Alpha, Beta and Retail; Beta keys unlock the game for Beta and Release; Release keys unlock the game for... Release. deso88, you now have two Alpha keys. Consider yourself lucky and give one to a friend .
